It’s because after over 80 chapters of watching the protagonist struggle with the morality of murder to do what he must and all of a sudden a single chat changes this mindset. I know that there have been other conversations that he already argued about it but it didn’t seem like he was gonna change anytime soon. I think it was really interesting to see the protagonist go against everyone’s wishes and do what he thinks is right. Even if there would be heavy consequences from him being this stubborn I think it would’ve more in his character to not care and do what he must to protect the ones he loves. And instead of prioritizing the safety of those closest to him and all of a sudden changes his goals and accepts to help everyone. I personally enjoy protagonists that go against what’s expected becuase there is a trope where the “cold” or “heartless” protagnist turn around and do what everyone else wants and changes the pace of the story either for good or bad. But its pretty apparent that even when I think that, other people really enjoyed it. The story was also really interesting up to this point and I might resume sometime soon. With so many chapters I don’t think there is much I could tell you now to improve the story because at this point it’s probably in a completely different direction. I understand the grind that comes with story and world building so it’s really impressive what kind of world you have started to build outside of the protagonist. All in all I think it would’ve been a lot more interesting if he stuck with his own ideals and not change them for the sake of others. These people are his only family and now when someone tells him he needs to think of everyone as part of his family he just easily accepts and goes off track of what his original goal was. It would’ve been very interesting if he even goes against the wishes of this ally and do what he thinks is right. Even though there might be some bad consequences from the decision it still creates a story where the protagonist has to over come these obstacles while still maintaining their own beliefs. I know the story is far beyond this point and it doesn’t really matter so if you do listen to any of this hope to see it in your next novel!
