wishful thinking. First the all, Commander Du was a soldier, he had his mission. His mission was to protect those scientists. MC was powerful, he knew it, but you think he would trust everything MC said? Hey, I got a book that gave me this power, if you want this power, then protect me. Do you seriously think he would believe this bullshit? The more he tried to negotiate with the military, the more it would make MC look like a desperate man who needed a help from other people. And to abandon his main mission over a desperate man? I don't think anyone would be that stupid.
you seem to mix the ability to change anything and stupid together. He always planned for the worst, however, he didn't have the ability to improve the situation. the decision he made was forced by the situation. take the negotiations with human part, he was doing it, so he could buy time. he stopped moving because he was surrounded, not because he had hope in humanity. this doesn't make him stupid.
nice review, but I wouldn't call it a flaw, it is just a writing style that not many people like. Once enough information was given, there was no need to continue that particular story arc. There are more than enough cliche story plots in other stories to help readers fill those empty areas. In terms of the maps. If I told you to find five maps in this world, do you even know where to start? This is the helpless feeling the author wanted to create. Giving more clues became a wish-fulfillment story, and the readers demand more plot armors for MC, and then the story became like another shitty apocalyptic story.
