"Yes," he admitted easily and sat across from her. She gave him a quizzical look but didn't say anything. Davien smiled and sat still, just watching her.
"What happened?" Bel asked after a while.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"You seem a bit off," she said.
"Is it that noticeable?" he asked with a small laugh.
Bel dropped her cutlery as her face turned serious. "Something really did happen."
"Yeah, but could you finish your meal first?"
"No!" Bel said stubbornly and folded her arms as she stared at him. Davien wondered if he should have lied to her.
"Fine," he said with a sigh.
"I have to leave the castle in three days."
Bel's face darkened. "Why?"
"To check the tunnels," he lied.
"Why does it have to be you?" she asked.
"Well, I was the one who got attacked. I am the most likely person to find it."
"Why so soon?"
"Best to head out as soon as possible."
