"Mother," Bel cried, walking towards her before she could even think about it. She was happy to see her.
"My daughter," her mother called with a smile. "You look so beautiful." She stopped in front of Bel and lightly touched the side of her face.
Bel doubted that. She felt nervous and anxious. At first, she had thought her mother wouldn't come, thinking she'd be too busy dealing with Hazel in the main section, but it was relieving to see that wasn't the case.
"How do you feel?" her mother asked.
"I don't know," Bel responded honestly. She wrapped the silk robe around her body. It was the same color as the nightdress but thicker and less transparent, and she was grateful for that.
"I'm sure," her mother looked away, clearing her throat. "I know I haven't—" she paused, clearing her throat again. "I haven't mentioned what happens in the bedroom on your wedding night."
