History Department

Cold wind started to blow by the World Magic Academy, forcing the students to wear jackets and staffs to wear thick clothes and sweaters. Tree leaves fell. Winter had come, bygone the autumn and rainy days.

Robert goes to the work after taking a day off.

He was a lecturer in the prestigious academy. He taught history and culture to the student. He got this job three years ago.

There were very few staff posts in the magic academy where one could get the job despite their lack of magical and combat skills. Vacancies are also the problem. Robert considered himself lucky as he got the job. He had got himself a very secure job. The academy's main focus being magic and combat training sometimes they ignore the incompetence of minor subjects' lecturers.

He had been an amateur for a year but he got the hang of it by the second year of his job.

Robert was tall and thin, with tanned skin and black hair. His dark blue eyes were sharp and attentive but today if someone would take a closer look they will find some tension hidden behind them.

He wore a black coat. Beneath the coat, he wore a white dress shirt with a high collar. His trousers were black, made of fine wool, with a subtle stripe running through them. He wore leather shoes. Finally, Robert wrapped a long black woolen scarf around his neck.

He was not so much bothered by the winter but wore the seasonal clothes anyway to blend with others and not to stand out. He remembered from childhood to present he did not get sick. He actually liked the chilly wind. It gave him the sensation, which helped him fall in sleep much faster and longer.

Reminiscing the past, he walks to the academy.

...

History department of the Warped Magic academy.

Surrounded by the piles of documents and books, shuffling through a notebook and sometimes scribbling something with his pencil with a serious gaze and a frown in his face, sometime later, hesitating but eventually Robert asked his neighbor co-worker about the function. That said function being the major event - First year student welcome ceremony – was missed by Robert.

"Yes Robert. I was going to talk this about earlier but I saw you doing something maybe very important with your note." Joseph answered, visibly not even trying to hide his displeasure talking to him.

Robert let out a dry chuckle in response.

Joseph was talking about his dairy which he always kept it with him. He wrote important stuff like his schedule, time table, meetings etc in it the entirety of the day.

Joseph was a history lecturer like himself in the academy with the addition of Martin. Martin had taken a leave for two week leaving a load of paper work to both of them.

In this situation where an individual had their portion of work increased one can imagine how enormous their work would become if one more person suddenly took leave. Robert very well understood his reasonable displeasure.

Joseph and Martin had already shown their enmity towards him in many occasions. He got used to it. So he couldn't get bothered this time as well. He was sure they both hate him. He didn't know the reason. But he always tried to be friends with them. He puts some effort by stirring up a conversation. But it never worked.

"Where were you? Principle was looking for you."

"I was sick so I couldn't help but remain in the quarter for the entire day." Robert was forced to lie.

"Oh."

Not showing any interest in the conversation Joseph got back to his work.

After pondering for a minute Robert walks to the Principle office.
