Alex's heart was racing against his chest as the battle raged around him. The Demon King's words still echoed in his brain louder than clashing steel or the roar of dark magic. Everything which he knew about this world was torn to pieces. They were all imprisoned in some sort of story, kept and manipulated, mere characters in someone else's story. But more immediately, there was still the Demon King to contend with, way beyond Alex's abilities, at least now that his world had been turned upside down.
"We have to go!" Lena shouted, ducking under a blast of dark energy that crashed into the stone wall behind her, shattering it to pieces.
Roran parried a heavy blow from one of Demon King's armored minions and nodded solemnly. "She's right, Alex! We're not ready for this fight; we need to get out of here!
