"Huhuh--huh I can't do it anymore.." Yuji panted heavily, laid down on the ground as he failed to even lift hands after the grueling exercise of Sword swings. It almost felt as if his upper torso and arms were completely on fire. It had been a year since started training in swordsmanship. He still had much to learn,he was quite aware that he hadn't even got down his fundamentals yet. The world of ninjas was based upon three main factors- Lineage, Strength and Abode. And training methods, Bukijutsu and Ninjustu available to one were all dependent upon one's Lineage, as most of the unique and game changing jutsus belonged to Clans, all most all of them were considered Hiden Jutsus exclusive for member of the particular clan.Yuji couldn't just learn them the moment he wanted. So he had started small, working on his footwork. Slowly but surely his footwork had gained stability. Swinging his training sword every single day had developed his pectoral muscles and strengthened his arms. Kenjutsu (literally meaning: Sword Technique) pertains to techniques that entail the use of swords, whether the users be shinobi, or samurai. Kenjutsu can be used in combination with taijutsu, ninjutsu, fūinjutsu, chakra flow and even genjutsu in order to achieve more devastating techniques. It is regarded as a branch of bukijutsu.
The entire military might of the lone samurai nation of the Land of Iron have all been depicted as practitioners of kenjutsu. Some shinobi villages seem to promote the use of kenjutsu as well, such as Kumogakure, and due to the tradition of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, every single Kirigakure villager strives to master kenjutsu from their childhood onwards.
As he was well versed in the foundational techniques of Kendo from his last life, he recreated them as his two basic sword techniques.
*Shikake-waza
This attack techniques is used to create an opening in an opponent by initiating an attack, or striking boldly when the opponent has created an opening.
*Oji-waza
This counter-attack techniques are performed by executing a strike after responding or avoiding an attempted strike by the opponent.
He also had other inspiration such as Iaijutsu, as it is a combative sword-drawing art but not necessarily an aggressive art because iaijutsu is also a counterattack-oriented art. Iaijutsu technique may be used aggressively to wage a premeditated surprise attack against an unsuspecting enemy. The formulation of iaijutsu as a component system of classical bujutsu was made less for the dynamic situations of the battlefield than for the relatively static applications of the warrior's daily life off the field of battle. Which was quite usefull for average shinobi combat which would often happen in an unsuspecting situation.
But Yuji wasn't yet trying to refine his swordsmanship. He knew he couldn't do that without true combat experience. Although he had trained with his father through the past year, he failed to land even a single hit on Kizashi, merely due to the fact that both Kizashi's physique and battle instinct were way beyond him as the former was an experienced Chunin.
After a month or so of the beginning of his Kenjutsu training, his elder sister had also joined him purely out of competitive spirit. However she dropped out not even after a week of training as she quickly found out horrifying the 'grind' could be.
However out of Yuji's knowledge, he had gained quite a notoriety in Village hidden in the leaves, as the 'Sword Kid' among village Genins and Chunins as they often found him swinging his training sword and doing calisthenics in training grounds especially the unofficial Holy land,Training Ground 69.
But even Yuji knew his newly gained epithet, he wouldn't stopped, as he knew it full well that if he had to reach the peak in a world where one's power is dictated by Kekkei Genkai, inherited Dojutsus and being reincarnation of Indra and Ashura. He definitely needed that sweet sweet YOUTH!
