Moving on

I arrived in front of my new residence.

It was a low bungalow house that was rented. It was a three-bedroom house. It was huge, but I liked it since it was at a throw-away price.

The location was excellent and scenic. The security was also good. It was not far from the main road and easy to access transportation. I liked the place the most because of its beautiful scenic appearance and the green trees that surrounded the area.

Swinging the gates’ key in my hand, I walked to the hard black gate and opened the mini gate. I entered the compound and locked the gate behind me.

The green planted grass at the right side of the compound made my heart quiver in satisfaction. There was a made sitting area on that section with three relaxing chairs and a table. There was also a colossal umbrella fixed permanently on the place to keep the sun and rain away. It looked awesome

The whole compound from the gate to the arranged sitting area was cemented for parking purposes. For a couple, the place was unique and very private. I walked towards the steps that led to the door and opened the small set gate outside. I then walked to the door and opened it.

I opened the door, and a new paint assaulted my nostrils. I had requested them to renovate the place to my favorite color before moving in. It was beautiful, but the paint smell was really irritating.

From the door, there was a corridor that led me to the main room. What met me was a huge room well decorated and fully furnished. I walked to the windows first and opened them wide to let in the fresh air.

The room was dimly lit due to the drawn curtains. The moment I grew them open, the light assaulted my eyes. Adjusting to the lighting changes, my eyes opened completely and looked around the room.

I wanted the quietness, but I could feel the loneliness creeping into my heart. I didn’t want Cindy to come with me. She had her own life to live. I wanted to start afresh and try to make it better.

I am a reserved woman and always wanted a reserved man, but no way. Life thought to throw bad boys on my way. I thought I could move on faster, being away from where everything reminded me of James. I wanted to start a new life and probably a new relationship.

On my right was a door. I opened it, and it led me to a beautiful huge kitchen. It had dozens of cupboards. I had ordered a new set of utensils and cooking wares that were already arranged for me.

I went back to the living room and the next three doors through the hallway.

I opened the first room, and it showed a beautiful room with a wardrobe, bed, and working table. I closed and moved to the next one. It was a bit smaller than the first one but had a huge bed and a wardrobe. I mentally noted to make it a guest room. I closed it and went to the next room. It was huge.

It had a big king-size bed with beautiful beddings. The wardrobe was extensive.

The room had everything I needed. At the corner of the room was a working area if I chose to use it. I could see the lighting to be efficient and light the room to the maximum.

I threw myself on the bed and bounced a bit up. Closing my eyes, I tried to focus at the moment, but my mind drifted on what I was going to do next.

I had to tell my dad about what had happened between James and me. The words he gave me brought me back to reality. We were unlikely couples.

There was no way their family could accept someone, not on their social status. They wanted someone of either a higher rank than them or of the same status.

My family was wealthy, but few people could understand the extent of our business and wealth. Though we were rich, we were not as much as the Watsons. The Smith family were always good-natured and loved all those that loved them.

My grandfather was well known in the whole country as a great general. It was too bad he died before I could see him. His reputation had our family respected. Sometimes I wished I would join the army and take his place.

Drifting back to reality, I opened my eyes, looking at the ceiling thinking about James. It had been more than three months. Before I shunned him away from my life, Tony told me that his family had sent him abroad.

I was always tempted to know how he was doing and where he was, but my ego and pride would not let me. I chose to try a new life and find new love. They say a rebounce is good sometimes, and it may be bad.

Looking at the ceiling, I slowly drifted to sleep without knowing. I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I tried to look for it at the usual place only to find nothing. I jolted sleep escaping me. Only to remember where I was. It was very dark. It was night.

I sat down on the bed and stood from the bed. I walked towards the direction of the door and searched for the switch socket.

I switched on the light and drew the curtains. I closed the door behind me and switched the hall’s switch as well.

I went to the living room and closed all the curtains right after switching the lights on.

The house was huge for me. Besides, I had no TV. I intended to get one soon.

My luggage was still in the sitting area.

“How could I have slept till late,” I said to myself, going to the kitchen. I switched the light and looked at the clean and new kitchen wares. I was in a hurry that I forgot to buy foodstuff.

There was nothing one could eat. Not even noodles

“Ugh. It seems I could only sleep hungry.”

I took my phone from the table. Cindy had called me earlier

“Hey,” Cindy answered as soon as she received the call.

“Hey. Sorry. I fell asleep,” I said to her on the phone, heading back to the bedroom.
