Where is Daddy?
Maya leaned against the headboard as she held Gabriel tightly in her arms.
She had missed her son. They had stayed overnight in Nathaniel's office in an attempt to thwart Xander's arrival, but there had been no movement from his camp.
Nathaniel then decided that their son needed her and that she needed to rest, especially since she was pregnant.
"Mommy, where is Daddy?" Gabriel asked as he stirred in her arms.
Leaning down, Maya kissed the top of his head and sighed.
"Daddy is keeping us safe," she told her son. "I know you want him to be here, but he will join us when he is sure nothing will happen to us or your little brother or sister."
"I miss Daddy," Gabriel cried out, not fully understanding why his Dad could be with him.
Maya sighed as she continued to hold the little boy tight.
He had acted so grown up over the years that sometimes even she forgot how young her little son was.
