Luck and Mentors

Maya was nervous, she didn't know what Nathaniel would say or do next.

She knew that Nathaniel had invited Sarah over because she was one of his promising employees who was repeatedly being overlooked for proper promotion.

Of all his department heads she was one that wasn't in the pocket of the Syndicate.

"Those bastards," Nathaniel hissed.

"Nate, I know Sarah and I don't have the best history," Maya knew this was insane that she was pleading her former bully's case, but she firmly believed Sarah was different now. "But, those people are disgusting."

"That's what I'm working on, Amor," Nathaniel said as he leaned down and planted a kiss on her forehead.

He then gestured for everyone to join him around the table, leading Maya to sit on his left as he pulled out the chair for her.

Nathaniel had always been the proper gentleman, knowing who he truly was now made everything fall into place.
