I watched him as he stood there, leaning on the bridge's railing and eating ice cream. The breeze wasn't disturbing his hair today because he had parked it all backwards, he looked cute, I smiled drawing in some breath, satisfied with how today was going. "What?" I heard him ask taking me off my thoughts. "Huh?" "You were smiling." "Oh. I was...." "Can I kiss you?" He asked looking at my lips. "Here?" I asked now, my heart beating hard again my chest, our first kiss could happen now. "Yeah?" He nodded, I could see his Adam's apple go up and down as he swallowed, I bit my lips, nervously. I smiled approvingly, almost getting up from the bench where I sat. "No sit." He said coming closer to sit next to me. The bench was quiet small so we were so close to each other. He leaned in and I could smell him more the closer he got to my face. His lips were now inches away from mine and the moment they touched I closed my eyes, I didn't know why but I did. He didn't put his tongue in my mouth, it was as simple as it could get, just a warm kiss and I as glad he didn't. When he lips left mine, I opened my eyes licking my lips. He was smiling, I hadn't yet told him how much I loved his smile. "You lied." I told him. "About what?" He stopped smiling. "You said you were a bad kisser." He laughed now with his teeth showing, those beautiful set. Read more... #genka3na

Twenty eight

Monday morning.

I went downstairs after checking how I looked in the mirror one more time. I saw Nick making scrambled eggs. He dished the first batch in a plate on the table and started towards the cooker after giving me a look, he didn't have a good expression on his face.

"Mine?" I asked going over to the kitchen island and taking a sit on one of the three stools there. He turned to me with his brows raised and without an answer he returned to what he was doing with the frying pan.

"Nick?" I called him even though he didn't seem to be in a good mood from the way he looked at me. I honestly didn't care, I just wanted to know if I could have the deliciously smelling eggs.

"What?!" Even his intonation wasn't nice, he sounded grumpy.

"Is this for me?" I pointed to the scrambled eggs on the plate, knowing he could get more annoyed than he seemed and he did.

"Does it look like I made it for you?"

"Yes?" I answered because it did look like he made it for me. For all I knew, my aunt had left earlier than usual this morning, so it was just us both at home, so it had to be me he made it for.

He didn't say anything after I gave my answer, he just turned his attention back to the cooker.

"Can I have it?" I asked but still didn't get an answer, that's what you get for been nice to ask first. I wasn't going to ask anymore. I took one of the forks on the utensil holder and brought the plate closer to where I sat.

"I'm gonna have it." I told him about to fork some into my mouth. He came to where I sat, the frying pan in his hands, another batch of what I was about to eat in the pan.

"Are you serious, right now?"

"What?" I asked, still chewing.

"Why are you eating it?"

"Because I'm hungry?"

"But I told you that wasn't for you, didn't I?"

"Well, not clearly." I was done chewing now."What's the big deal, you made one for yourself too, right?" I asked looking at the got eggs in the pan he held as a reference.

"That was for Uche, he planned to have breakfast here today." He said as I watched him transfer the eggs to another plate previously set on the table.

"Uche?" I asked but he didn't answer me this time, he just sighed and went back to the sink, keeping the frying pan back on the cooker.

"You know what, you can just have it. Uche, please eat this one," He pointed to the plate he just out the hot eggs."I've lost my appetite." He said before walking back upstairs.

I turned back to look where he also looked when he said 'Uche, please eat this one.' Uche was sitting on one of the chairs in the dining table. How didn't I see him there earlier?!

He had a headphone resting on the back of his neck and Nick's laptop in front of him. He was looking at me with a dry but tender smile. I guess I didn't see him because the curtains were still closed and the dining lights were not turned on yet, they were still turned off like my aunt left them last night, same with the sitting room's lights. It was just the kitchen light on.

Nick's door made a loud bang when he slammed it on getting upstairs bringing me off my thoughts. I was still looking at Uche, surprised, when he came up to me.

"How did I not see you?" I asked when he was close enough to hear me whisper.

"You walked right pass me, I was actually surprised but I couldn't call you back." He chuckled."How was your night?" His smile was more casual now.

"Good." I returned his smile."I didn't know he was making this for you." I said, referring to the eggs I had eaten from.

"It's fine."

"I really thought that dish was for me, I thought it was just us; Nick and I." He didn't say anything more, he just smiled with his lips pressed against each other tightly.

"He didn't explain properly, he should have told me in a nice voice, I felt like he was trying to transfer his anger to me, that's why I didn't find meaning to any of the things he said." I explained further.

"Yeahhhhh, Nick.... Nick's in a bad mood." Uche chortled, like he found it funny that his best friend was in a bad mood.

"It's not my fault, he is grumpy this morning, is it?"

"His mum forgot to take the cupcakes with her, so now he has to take them to her after school, that's what he moody about." Uche informed me.

"Oh, but that's not enough reason to be worked up, at least not this early a morning."

"She tells her colleagues about him so they expect to be introduced to him whenever he goes there and Nick? Well, he hates that." Uche laughed.

"Okay, now that's enough a reason to get worked up about." I laughed too because I didn't like been introduced to people I didn't want to be introduced to, so I understood.

"Let me go talk to him, he needs to calm down." Uche laughed again, almost leaving but came back.

"You are troublesome, though, you know that?" He rubbed my cheeks, a grin on his face.

When he went to talk to Nick, I continued with my eggs, nothing was stopping me from eating them, not even Nick's bad mood.

Pretty soon, they were both coming back down the stairs. Nick's face didn't look all that crazy scary anymore. Nick glared at me when he was at the base of the stairs.

"Great, she is still eating, the princess is still eating." Nick said shaking his head, displeased but I didn't care, I just continued with eating.

"Come on, let her eat man." Uche told him.
