Possible Competitions

I wake up to the sound of my alarm. I grab a blue shirt that states 'Dreamer' and a pair of loose jeans. My red sneakers sit in the corner by the door so as I leave I put them on. I look down the hall as I exit my room and see Kacchan coming out of his room. He looks towards me and we both nod. Our warm up is about to begin. After about an hour warm up for the day, we had back. Everyone else is just starting to wake up.

"Hey Izuku, Katsuki, where were you guys?" Ochaco asks.

"Warm up for the day," Kacchan states calmly.

"Oi, you two what do you want for breakfast?" Tenya asks. Kacchan walks to the kitchen.

"No offense but I will make Deku and my breakfast," He says. He turns to me, "Eggs and toast, right?"

I nod and walk to the table. I sit there as Shoto walks in.

"You two get up pretty early everyday, don't you?" Shoto whispers. I can tell he is still very tired.

"Unlike some of you, we have a daily schedule that we must follow," Kacchan hisses at Shoto.

"Katsuki, you don't have to be mean," Ochaco states.

"Whatever. Deku, here is your breakfast," Kacchan hands me a plate with toast and eggs. I smile knowing that he made the same thing for himself. At a young age, our mothers got us to the same schedule and because of that we have become pretty close. They always planned on us going to the same school and everything.

"Izuku, how can you stand Katsuki?" Ochaco asks.

"What do you mean?" I asks back knowing full well that she meant his anger issues. Kacchan has always been put aside because of that. I like him just the way he is though.

"You know, he is always so rude," Ochaco whispers but not quiet enough. Kacchan comes in and slams his hand on the table.

"You have only known him for a day," I say making Kacchan back away, "you wouldn't understand. I don't mean to offend you but it is true."

Everyone except Kacchan seemed surprised. I walk with Kacchan to our classroom. Everyone slowly catching up but Kacchan and I sit in the room laughing. Ochaco walks over with Kirishima and Denki. Tenya and Shoto soon join in with the crowd. I sense Kacchan tense up.

"Hello class, today I shall take role and then we will head to the classes studio room. So if I call your name, say here," A dull Mr. Aizawa states. "Let's begin, Mina Ashido."

"Here," the pink haired girl answers.

"Tsuyu Asui."

"Here."

"Yuga Auyama."

"Here."

"Katsuki Bakugo."

"Here," Kacchan almost yells earning a glare from Mr. Aizawa.

"Tenya Iida."

"Here."

"Toru Hagakure."

"Here."

"Kyoka Jiro."

"Here," A girl with headphones says as she looks up.

"Denki Kaminari."

"Here."

"Eijiro Kirishima."

"Here."

"Koji Koda."

"Here."

"Izuku Midoriya."

"Here," I say feeling myself jump.

"Minoru Mineta."

"Here."

"Mashiroa Ojiro."

"Here."

"Rikido Sato."

"Here."

"Hanta Sero."

"Here."

Mezo Shoji."

"Here."

"Shoto Todoroki," Mr. Aizawa pauses but no answer comes. I look back and see he is on his phone. I nudge Momo next to me and she gets him to look up, "Shoto Todoroki."

"Here," He glances at Momo who just motions towards me. He mouths a thank you to me.

"Fumikage Tokoyami."

"Here."

"Ochaco Uraraka."

"Here."

"And finally, Momo Yaoyorozu."

"Here."

"Alright, other than one hiccup we went through that decently fast. After today, I will only be calling your last name and once. Got that Todoroki," Mr. Aizawa hisses.

"Yes sir," Shoto glances at me. I give a small smile and walk with Kacchan to the studio.

"So you think that he might be up to something?" Kacchan asks.

"Who?" I wondered out loud.

"Shoto Todoroki, the red and white haired boy," Kacchan states.

"Of course he is up to something, everyone is," A voice comes up behind the two of us. We both look back and it is Kyoka Jiro. "What do you say we just try and be friends?"

"Sure," I say as Kacchan just nods. Both of us cautious, but she looks the same way at us. We hold out our hand. She reaches out and shakes mine first than Kacchan's.

"Cool, since that is over. Can you guys call me Jiro?"

"Of course. If you want you can call me Deku, or Izuku." I say and she smiles. Then we laugh. Everyone looks at us.

"Okay everyone," Mr. Aizawa gathers everyone's attention, "today we need to talk about the possibility that you will be in the next dance competition. A limit of six are able to go. Today you will be competing for those spots."

The entire room fills with the dense and eerie feeling. I can't believe that one second everyone is trying to be friends, and the next they all see each other as enemies. Only Kacchan, Jiro, and I seem slightly unaffected. Kacchan and I have been in competitions before and I am going to have to ask Jiro if she has. Kacchan and I share a look, we will make it. Our moms will be proud of us.

"There are different categories. Individual, Partner, and Group. All six will be in an Individual and Group. If we wish we will pair you up for the Partner," Aizawa states.

Kacchan and I just begin to stretch and prepare. We already know what dance we are going to do. Jiro joins us.

"So Deku, Katsuki, have you two been in a competition before?" Jiro asks.

"Yeah, how about you?" Kacchan replies.

"Of course. Let me guess you two will use one of your competition pieces, so am I," Jiro states.

"Improv is similar to contemporary, right?" I ask.

"Yeah, but I really am actually a contemporary dancer. It is hard to win competitions as a improv dancer. Though I like them both," Jiro smiles.

"Alright class, time to show us what you got," Mr. Aizawa states. Kacchan, Jiro, and I already know what we are going to do, but everyone else seems to be panicked.

Up first is Ochaco, she slides a mat over and slides on her tap shoes. The shoes are a sparkley pink but look like they have been used for years. She sets her phone on the floor after connecting to the bluetooth speaker. As the music starts she lightly taps. But as it gets going the tapping of the shoes begin to drown out the music. She would get docked points in a competition for that even though it is tap. If you have music, the audience should always be able to hear it.

Next is Hanta, he uses the mat that Ochaco used and slides on some rugged brown tap shoes. They probably have been passed down for generations. If he is going to come here, then he better get some new ones. He starts the music and pauses. The music goes for 2 counts of 8 before he starts, then the entire thing is soft and graceful. He would defiantly get a high score with that routine.

As the last tap dancer, Koji sets everyones hearts blaze. It is emotional and captivating. Could have totally one first place in a tap competition. His shoes are gold and recently polished.

Rikido, the only traditional/folk dancer, dances the mexican folk dance. It is beautiful but it would need at least one other person for it to work.

Ballet goes next. Momo has brand new, black pointes; Tenya has dull semi-new blue pointes; Yuga has shiny, gold pointes; and Tsuyu has worn out, green pointes. They all pretty much dance to the same song but in different ways.

Improv is next with contemporary. Most of them take their shoes off. Jiro shows that she is a very talented dancer and for sure will be going to the competitions. I am moved at her piece.

Character is similar in a way. Shoto being the best. And then it is us, the hip hop crew. It is quickly our turn. I smile as Kacchan goes up. I know full well what dance he chose and there is no way he doesn't get picked for competitions. I am the last person to go. The dance I perform is named the beloved and raved.

"Tomorrow I will announce what I have come up with," Mr. Aizawa states. Soon, we are at the end of the day. Kacchan and I are finishing up our cool down of the day and will have about two hours before bed. It has been quite the day.
