William's P.O.V.
"So, you're new around here?" I asked after a few moments of awkward silence.
"Yeah. I just got here two days ago." He answered.
"Oh." I said. "Parent was transfered?"
"Yeah. How'd you guess?" He asked, looking at me with his soft eyes.
"Well, I don't know. You joined at an odd time so I guessed it must be a transfer." I said, shrugging.
"Yeah, that does make sense. My mom got transfered here so yeah… And dad, well. Let's just say he's not there." He said, a dry chuckle following.
"Oh, okay." I said. I hadn't quite expected him to just volunteer information about his dad to me, so I was a bit surprised.
"Have you made any friends yet?" I asked after another dose of awkward silence.
"Nah, not yet. I don't think I ever will." He said, a little bitterly.
"Well, if you want, you can join me and my friends for lunch. I feel that you'll like them! If you do then that'll be great, you'll have made new friends. If you don't, then well, never mind." I said.
I don't know what it was that made me say it. I don't usually do such stuff, not because I'm unfriendly, but I think too much.
What if he doesn't like the idea and thinks I'm pitying him or something?
What if my friends don't like them?
What if we start hating each other? That'll be completely my fault then.
But this time, for some reason, I just wanted to offer him my friendship. I didn't even know him and yet I wanted to give him a chance.
"Oh, well that sounds lovely!" He said. "If you and your friends don't mind, I'll join for sure!"
He gave me a radiant grin.
I was slightly flustered, it was so… beautiful.
Wait now what? Ugh, I must have eaten something weird today, my brain's not working properly.
We made it to class in time. There was an empty seat next to me so I offered him to take it, and he did quite gratefully, smiling at me again.
Smiling that same beautiful smile.
Jacob's P.O.V.
Class went by quite smoothly.
I was going to have to pull a couple of all nighters and use up my weekends completely to catch up with the material that was already covered.
Sigh.
I was getting quite hungry, so it was a good thing that we had lunch next.
Speaking if lunch, I was reminded that the guy― I didn't even know his name nor he mine― had invited me to join for lunch.
I felt touched. He didn't seem to mind me joining him and his friends. It'd been a while since someone apart from my mom had been so nice and kind to me, that too voluntarily.
I also felt slightly, just slightly excited.
Maybe I would end up becoming friends with them. That would be really nice.
Maybe I could finally bring friends home or go to their home and have fun nightouts.
My mom could finally meet my friends because I would finally actually have some friends.
That thought felt really nice.
Calm you horses, you haven't even had lunch with them yet.
I was anxiously waiting for the bell to go off so I could finally meet his friends and spend time with them.
