On the way home Amari was consumed with tears. Of course she knew that Dontae would be angry with her for not telling him that he had kids out there in the world, but she never thought that he would react the way that he did.
She was used to the cold anger that hed given, but she never saw death in his eyes the way that she saw this afternoon.
She pulled over on the side of the road and stopped the car. She dialed Mrs. Kim and told her that Dontae could spend time with the kids and get to know them until he was ready to bring them back home to her. She told her that she would drop off their things tomorrow morning on her way to work.
She got off the phone and replayed the scene that she just left. She was so hurt, but she understood his anger and couldn't blame him for his unexpected reaction. She decided whatever he wanted she would give it to him, regarding the kids. But with her, although she still loved him to death, she was unsure about them starting over. She hurt him and he hurt her, how could they rekindle that what was lost? No matter what she wished and dreamed of, she was scared. So she focused on the kids and that's all that mattered.
The next Morning Amari woke up and got herself ready for work. She packed the kids clothes, shoes, blankets and favorite toys into her car. She headed over to the Kim's residence.
When she arrived she saw Dontae standing on the front porch waiting for her. He helped her bring the things into the house. He had an indifferent look on his face. He showed no emotions towards her and said very little. The only things he did say to her were " I got it, Over there and Thanks."
He was always the one to give in first, but now he treated her like he would treat anyone on the streets. She was no different from them now. Although be still had feelings for her, he wasnt sure if love was in the equation. Like his parents said, 'Leave it to fate.' So that's where he left it.
She couldn't believe it. Usually he would talk her head off to get her to talk to let her know that he was over his anger with her and he wanted to move on. He would find ways to touch and be near her. Today, he didn't do any of that. Not even an accidental touch. He wanted to be as far away from her as possible.
Amari felt so empty inside. She wished she would've told him when she found out she was pregnant. Damn her stubbornness. She wanted him to hold her and kiss her and let her know that they will be okay, as long as they worked on their relationship. She looked at him with a nervous smile and said " If you need anything, you could call me anytime." She said that to get him to talk to her or look at her at least. He nodded his head as he walked into the house.
Dontae still love Amari, it's just he can't believe that she out of all people would treat him like he didn't exist. Like he wasn't important. Like he was s***.
Out of all the people in the world he was treated indecent by the person he loved the most. Who claimed to love him. He would kill for her, but now he think that she wouldn't even shield a bullet for him.
He hated how things had turned out and just wanted to go back to how they were before that incident two years ago.
Right now, he just wanted to be the best father for his kids. And that's what he planned to focus on now.
