Queen Wyvern

****(POV)

He fell asleep just like that?!

How?!

In MY pond of all places!

I can see him smile slightly.

Apparently contented and peaceful.

Not a care in the world.

This human is ridiculously strange!

How is he able to disregard my presence completely?!

He seems so tiny.

So soft.

So weak.

Features that are not manly at all.

He doesn't look like a strong warrior.

He doesn't look like a wise wizard either.

I have tried to adventure outside in the past.

Back then I was younger and full of energy.

Full of stupidity too.

I attacked a few human settlements.

Ate their cattle.

Sent them all running.

But then they came.

A legion of them kept pursuing me.

I almost lost my life back then.

That is when I understood that one needs to be careful in life.

Yet here he is.

A human that doesn't seem one bit powerful.

One that slaughtered some of my brethren.

Even reduced some to serve as his mount.

I suddenly came out of my resting place prepared to devour him whole.

That is when he started passing sly remarks.

About me holding my breath down there.

Yes, I was. But that is beside the point!

He didn't seem to know remorse or fear.

At all.

Even questioning my rule over the others.

Then he said something about a power level.

What is that supposed to even be?

I wanted to erupt in laugher but, somehow, he seemed so convincing.

He started telling me frightening tales.

One about my species going extinct.

One about killing dragons.

There is no way I would usually believe such a crazy thing.

But then I remembered it.

The dragon that did fly above the mountain not long ago.

Going in a specific direction.

One this human just came from.

What if he had really encountered the mighty being?

What if he had slaughtered it as he said?

Unlikely, but what if?

He started walking toward me.

Nothing else.

No pressure.

No power.

No fear either.

Then he told me that I should be the one running instead.

While grinning.

A grin that chilled my very blood.

Not because of how scary or impressive it was.

Quite the contrary.

It felt warm.

Like spring itself.

Except that such a smile didn't make sense there.

He told me to listen to his heartbeat.

A human should have one.

He didn't.

What is he?!

I asked but he never replied.

Kept saying that he wouldn't mind fighting.

Then he actually petted my head!

The audacity!

I have killed every single puny human that has tried to touch me so far!

I was that close to trying to eat him.

But I refrained.

I pride myself on my wisdom.

That same wisdom kept telling me that he shouldn't be able to even exist.

Yet, there he was.

He started telling me about how to cook a wyvern.

Not only is that enough to traumatize any of my species but it also made me slightly hungry.

Me even thinking about cannibalism?!

Preposterous!

I tried everything.

No matter what I did he never flinched.

Never!

Then he fell asleep.

Now I am here.

Watching him.

A claw near his throat.

Yet, he doesn't move in the slightest.

I wonder if he is trying to test me?

No way!

Should I just try and slice him up?

[It has been a while, hasn't it?]

What?!

Has he been awake this whole time?!

[Should I build a civilization from the ground up? Why not.]

No, there is something different.

He IS sleeping!

He seems to be…sleep talking?!

[Sending such weaklings after me? As if that would make a difference.]

What?

Is he talking about the wyverns that I sent to attack him?

[All that oppose me perish, it is that simple.]

How tyrannical!

There is no way anyone would try to fight someone like that!

[Trying to surrender, are you?]

That is seriously something I am starting to consider.

[Nope, I shall destroy and kill every single last of you.]

Why?! Is he talking about my species?!

[You can run but you can't hide. Soon I will be omniscient haha.]

How? This is impossible!

[Great, now they are all dead. Victory hehe.]

What?

What exactly is he dreaming about.

Most importantly is it a dream from his past?

The implications would be extremely terrifying!

[I'm done with that. Should I hunt some dragons now?]

What?! How did he go from hunting weaklings to hunting dragons?!

One does not simply hunt dragons.

Dragons are the ones that hunt you!

[Hehe this is great. Turn their bones and scales into armors and weapons.]

What kind of nightmare is this?!

Wait, no.

I have heard stories of it.

Of extremely strong individuals.

Ones that call themselves dragon slayers.

Most end up dying trying to achieve the title.

After all, these are mythical creatures that are even harder to kill than find.

He is talking about fighting them.

Meanwhile, he is joyfully smiling.

As if recalling a pleasant memory.

That should be a horrible one!

One filled with hardship and suffering!

None of it makes sense!

[Nice, I didn't even need to kill you, but you will look pretty on my wall.]

Oh my god!

You will look pretty on my wall.

He is dreaming of dragons no?!

Some people don't even dare mention their existence.

Worried to attract calamity.

Here he is talking about…

This is insanity!

Complete and utter madness!

[As a plant you need sunlight…go out and play!]

*WOOSH*

*SPLASH*

What the hell!

In front of my eyes, a house just appears out of thin air.

A house that looks to be made of vines.

That was the plant he was referring to?!

He can use space magic?!

More importantly, he can casually use space magic while dreaming?!

What could a man like that accomplish awake then?!

Also, could he seriously be defenseless right now?

No way!

He probably has some sneaky invisible defensive spell at work.

For all I know, the moment I seriously decide to kill him is the moment I die.

Not even getting a chance to react quite possibly.

I have no proof of this, but it is obviously the case.

I am glad I am a careful Queen Wyvern.

Well, can I still call myself a Queen now?

As I'm having these thoughts, I watch the house slowly sink into the bottom of the pond.

What will happen to me starting tomorrow when he wakes up?

*Sigh*
