CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FOUR

"Shouldn't you be out hunting down your missing wife, instead of babysitting me?" Curling his lips in disgust, grandfather snicker, hoping to provoke me.

Staring at the man who single handedly put Jamie in the danger she is in today, fighting the urge to watch him release his last breath in my face.

Chuckling dryly, "have you really lost it or simply given it away?" I shook my head at his stupidity. "Did you really think my wife would leave me?" Getting to my feet, I stood over him, staring down mockingly.

Without even trying to hide his disbelief, grandfather stared up at me wide eyed.

Turning my back to him, I pick up a knife, Cam uses to 'make people talk', and turned abruptly to face grandfather, smiling at the fear in his eyes, as he stared at the knife in my hand.

"It's a good you no longer reign over the Daniel's Empire now, isn't it?" I took slow strides back to him chuckling.

Frowning, "they will be searching for me," grandfather retorted but with a hint of doubt in his voice, still feigning a boldness he didn't appear to feel.

Laughing out loud, "who?" Passing the edge of the knife against his cheek, making circles, "grandmother?" Leaning back, I smile down at his eyes, as realization dawns on him.

Grandmother has had her fill of him and has endorsed me as the head of the Daniel's Empire, having already passed the word around, that grandfather is dying slowly.

With his head hanging low, "what did she say?" his gruff voice sounds out.

I didn't immediately respond, causing him to raise his eyes to mines, "you're not dying today, thanks to my beautiful wife but I promise you, I will let you know, before you breath your last breath." throwing the knife towards him, chuckling as he dodge it, even though it was never my intention to actually hit him.

While walking away, I turned at the door, "oh, I forgot to mention," shoving my hand in my back pocket, I pulled out grandfather's Samsung galaxy phone and wave it at him. "I've been getting numerous calls from a Clyde and a Ingrid," my brows knitted together, indicating my confusion, with a lopsided grin, "who are they?" I asked curiously.

Lifting his chin, "I told you, they'll be searching for me" he chuckle but the confidence doesn't reach his eyes.

Nodding, "okay, I'll just pass this," waving his phone again, "to grandmother," I retorted "and she will tell them the same thing she's being telling 'the families'." Without looking back at him, I walked out ignoring grandfather calling my name.

Breathing a sigh of relief, "we're going to visit grandmother," I said to Cam, nodding at Justin who will be making the visit with me.

Now I've got to inform my wife, that I am stepping out!

Jamie was in her favorite room, lying on the daybed frowning at her laptop thoughtfully as she has been doing for the last few days.

Sneaking silently into the room, I stood behind her to see her staring at the photos of the both of us from my parents most recent fashion show.

"Hey," I moved in front of her, causing her to jolt in surprise. "Hey," I repeated softly, touching her shoulder, stooping down in front of her, unwilling to cause her unnecessary stress because the last thing I need is for her pressure to go up again. Her upcoming C-section, which I have finally agreed to, not that I had a say in it, has been schedule for next week when she hits the seventh month.

"Can't get enough of the hot couple?" I laugh but she looked away from me to focus on the photos on the laptop.

Frowning, "have you looked at it?" She asks her voice low with a tinge of sadness.

Nodding, I pull out my phone and show her my screensaver and wallpaper, "every single day and as often as I can." I tell her but she is still disturb.

"Have you read the comments?" Jamie asked and now I am the one whose confused.

Shaking my head slowly, "no, why?" I asked moving from where I stooped, near the daybed to sit beside her.

Squinting her eyes that's still focus on the laptop screen, she shook her head.

I want to deal with this but I need to visit grandmother so that I can return home quickly to spend the afternoon with her.

Kissing her head, and then her lips, I stood up, "Justin and I are going out for a short while," I explained.

Lifting her head, staring at me curiously, "where are you going?" Jamie asks me bluntly, lifting her chin giving me a challenging smirk.

Jamie kept reminding me that we are partners together here and she already knows about things happening here and haven't reacted in any way to make me concern.

She even knows grandfather is a prisoner on this compound and other than ensuring he's safe, she hasn't mentioned him again.

"Grandmother," I responded softly.

Her frown deepened but she simply nodded before focusing on the laptop.

Jamie still doesn't trust my grandmother but I need to trust her and with grandfather MIA, someone needs to hold the families together and I needed grandmother to endorsed me.

I removed grandmother from the hotel since grandfather is no longer there and moved her to one of our safehouses, that's fit for king.

I changed some of her personal guards and kept those with whom I am accustomed to, not just her safety by mines.

Other than a selected few, no one else knows that grandmother is no longer at the hotel, not even Jessica Scott, who called to informed me about grandfather being MIA.

I promised to search for him and left her to communicate with Cam, who will give her updates concerning my search, fully aware that she'll be passing the information, to Clyde Daniel, the bastard.
