CHAPTER SIXTY ONE

JAMIE'S POV

Logan returned picking up every piece of clothing, while giving me a hard glare.

After dressingsit properly called Jer to help me downstairs, leaving the wheelchair for Logan to bring.

Adjusting myself comfortably in the sitting room Jer and I started joking around while Logan and Justin discuss work over beers.

Mom hasn't resurface since our run this morning.

"Hi big brother" Jess sang as she waltz into the room, hugging him before planting her ass on the arm of the chair, Logan occupied.

Meeting her gaze, I notice her smug expression.

Jer takes my attention away from her as he started speaking to me. I faintly heard Jess chatting with Logan and Justin but I didn't look in their direction again.

"Jamie, phone" dad walks in handing me his phone.

Me: "hello"

Judge Delano: " Jamie we're about to enter the compound, be on the alert for news"

Judge Delano hangs up and I turned to hand dad's phone back to him, but his attention was on Jess, who was dangling one of her feet as she chats with my uncomfortable looking husband, as he to moves to get past Jess without touching her.

"Jessica!" dad shouts. "the fact that you're living in my house doesn't give you the right to disrespect it. If you're unable to sit in a chair, then please remove yourself from my presence" he finishes, pointing to the doorway.

Jer snickers, but I look at Jess's face and I couldn't gloat. I pity her and her choices. Does she love Logan or is she doing this as payback for Lloyd or something else that I must have done to offend her.

She glared at me before storming out of the room.

I spun the chair around and wheeled after her.

"Jess" I called after her and she stops but took nearly a minute to turn around.

Staring at the chair, then at my face, she starts laughing with a sneer.

*Oh how the mighty has fallen" she says mockingly.

"Jess what happened between us?" I asked sadly.

"Us?" she sneered. "The all knowing Jamie is actually asking dumb old me a question?"

"Can't we talk?" I continue to speaking quietly to her.

Pretending to be thinking, with a finger tapping her chin, "uh let me see." she continues to think, tapping her finger on her chin. "no, nothing to talk about. Logan and I are destined to be together. I mean take today for instance, you couldn't get rid of me" she chuckles, "but you" she sneered, "will be gone as soon as that brat is here" she laughs, pointing to my stomach.

WRONG RESPONSE!

Tilting my head to look at her, "is this the real you or is someone putting these things in your head" I had to know who I'm really dealing with.

"It's all me" she retorts and I smiled, definitely throwing her off.

Seeing a phone in front of my face, I look up at dad's angry glare which was directed at Jess.

Me: "hello"

Judge Delano: "it's done and thank you Jamie. We will not he leaving until the compound is empty. Even if it takes weeks" she informs me.

Me: "no, thank you judge Delano." I said, hanging up grinning excitingly.

Looking curiously at me, "you're happy!" dad observed.

"Yeah, I'm ready to blackmail the blackmailer" I chuckle, intentionally sizing up Jess. "Now that I know,Jessica Scott is responsible for her own actions." I spun my chair around to join everyone else in the sitting room.

Logan changed seats and was sitting on the chair where Jer sat, so that it's easier for my chair.

"Hey" I reached up at him. Leaning down, he captured my lips.

"I did something and I will make no apologizes, even if you are not pleased with it" I whispered against his lips.

I can feel him stiffen but he didn't move away. "On that note, I hope you won't have a problem with me going back to work from tomorrow, part time." he whispered back, not giving me a chance to respond by kissing me again.

"That f***ing good for nothing piece of trash" I heard the senior Mr Daniels, swearing as he approaches the sitting room.

Storming towards my chair ready to slap me, but Logan grabbed his hand midair and yanked it back down.

"The next time you try that, I'll break it off completely" Logan pushes him and as he stumbles, he grabs my wheelchair to balance himself and I automatically reached out a hand to help steady him.

For a moment I saw fear in his eyes as he looked at Logan.

"Your grandmother has been given an eviction notice" he told Logan, but eyed me.

Logan stiffened beside me and for a moment I wonder if I have made a bad decision.

I chose not to respond but kept my eyes on Logan's reaction.

Without flinching, "okay" Logan responds but he is clearly still surprised by this information.

"What do you have to say for yourself young lady" Mr Daniels asked.

Shrugging, I shook my head, "nothing, except this house is not big enough for two Scott women" I retort, hearing a grasp from Jess and chuckles from Jer and Justin.

Mr Daniels glared at me, giving Logan the same treatment, ready to open his mouth, but I interrupted him,

"If anything happens to me, that property has already been willed to a charitable organisation" I explained, knowing that he will come back hard on me and I'm so ready.

"Jamie" Jess comes closer, with a smile that I remember, belonging to my little sister.

Putting a hand out. stopping her, "don't! I said calmly. " The high and mighty Jamie is no longer interested in hearing anything you have to say, from this day onwards." I spun the chair around and slowly, navigated my chair through and around everyone in the room, not even acknowledging Jess, when I heard her call my name.

Thanks for supporting Jamie as she struggles to be the best version of herself, even with her medical setback.
