CHAPTER FORTY SIX

LOGAN'S POV

"Why?" she asks curiously, as I try to convince myself, that I'm doing the right thing.

I owe, Stanley, Tony and Chris and most of all my wife, whom those mother****ers are still after. Can I keep her near and keep her safe at the same time.

Her being pregnant and injured changes all of that, so from today onwards, everything that I do will have to be in the best interest of Jamie and our baby. I'm going to be a father but at the expense of Jamie's health, a fact that I'm still not at ease with.

"If it's that great a place, I'm thinking maybe a short vacation should be great before it becomes more difficult for you to leave here" I explained, hoping she will understand what I'm trying to say and not what I'm not, trying to say.

Jamie tries to sit up, "you'll be coming with me?" she asks hopefully, searching my face for more?

I took a hand and placed it on her head, pushing it gently back on my chest, not wanting her to notice that I am struggling with this decision not comfortable having to make it right now!

"You were going this morning without me" I chuckle dryly.

"But you would not have let me go, now would you?" she responded accurately.

It's true, I would never leave her side, normally, but now?

I have no idea how mother will react about this either but I may have no choice, since this house is on their radar, especially after this morning.

"There are some simple things that need to be done and I need you safe" I confess.

"Tell me, and I'll willingly go" she bargain with me. "And does it have anything to do with grandfather's phone call at breakfast and don't dance with the truth, I saw the looks that passed between you and your sidekick" she responded, on a serious note.

"My sidekick?" I chuckle.

"I said, don't dance with me, Logan" she retorted angrily.

Realizing she could complicate things if I'm not honest, I ended up telling her everything that happened since I woke up and where I went yesterday, including the proofs that I found and my plan of action up to this point.

Jamie, remained silent on my chest that I shook her to make sure she was okay.

"Who are you, Logan Daniels?" she asked instead.

Taken aback with that question, "what are you really asking me?" I asked cautiously.

After a minute or so, I felt her head shaking. "it doesn't matter" she said instead.

Does she know more than she I letting on? Have she heard about my past? My grandparents past? God, if this continues, I hope I have a daughter, because the family won't try to take control of her like they did with me.

"Does my grandmother know about you being pregnant?" I wondered aloud.

"Uh, no, I don't think so" she tries to sit up quickly. "Logan would she get to my baby?" she suddenly cries.

"Hey, I'll protect you" I console her. "I couldn't that .. that last time. I wasn't expecting that, then but now, now I know. Now I'm prepared" I assured her. I assured myself, that I'm in control now. I sat in the back seat before, now, I'm the driver's seat.

Placing a hand on her belly, where a mini version of Jamie and I were growing, I placed my hand on top of hers.

"Keep her safe Logan, please, keep her safe" she begs me softly.

"Keeping you safe has been my intention since I saw you at the wedding, less than a year ago." I confess but I failed, before. Now I promise you, I'll never fail again" I pledge.

We stayed in silence for a while and I can honestly say it wasn't a comfortable silence.

"Tell me what the doctor said and his advice to you during the pregnancy and afterwards" I asked the question I've wanted to ask since I walked outside with the Natal pills I found in the kitchen when I was speaking to Mrs Stanley. I saw the bottles in my mother's hand earlier, so I knew right away.

I was stunned, then I was afraid then I became angry, angry when I confronted my mother. I love Jamie for making the decision when I wasn't here, but I have to wonder though, would I have made this decision if I was awake?

It scared me when I saw Jamie's condition yesterday, now finding out she's pregnant, scares me more. For once in my life, I realize that I'm helpless, but it's not hopeless.

Jamie started explaining to me what the doctor said to her, but I feel that she is not telling me everything. First in the agenda before she leaves, is a visit to the doctor you that's safe.

Jerome and Jessica will go with her and I will speak to the board to continue sending Jessica's assignment to her online.

The clicking of heels, followed by a heavy stomp of feet, coming on our direction, alerted me to my mother's presence, the other, I'm not sure yet.

"Logan sweetheart, is Jamie okay" she glances at a sleeping Jamie, before turning to me.

"My wife is fine mom and in case you're interested, I'm good to" I told her jokingly.

Ignoring me, she turns behind Justin who had followed her onto the patio, "Jerome" she called and Jerome quickly comes to stand in front of her awaiting his instructions. I couldn't resist laughing at the look on Jerome's face.

Pointing to a sleeping Jamie, "please take Jamie to bed" she said, as Jerome moves towards Jamie.

Quickly getting up, I felt a pinch of pain, in my neck, "ahh" I stopped.

A worried look, crossed my mother's eyes immediately.

"I'm fine" I wince, moving to allow Jerome to pick his sister up in his arms, as I helplessly look on.
