CHAPTER FIFTY TWO

LOGAN'S POV

Mom spent the night with Jamie, while my father came and sat with me.

"Is this what Jamie has been going through while I was in the hospital?" I asked as I stare at her sleeping form on the bed.

"Honestly son, if she did, I was not aware of it. Your mother, her brother and sister spent the most time with her."dad observed. " And Jamie is always satisfied never complaining " he said with admiration.

Suddenly I realized that I haven't seen Jerome.

"I haven't seen Jerome" I commented

Dad looks thoughtfully at me, "that's true, I haven't seen him since.." he pauses as a thought occurs to him.

Sensing there's something there, "since ?"... I prompted my father to continue.

Looking uncomfortable, "He had a falling out with Jessica earlier and stormed out of the house" he mused.

This is interesting but he would never abandon Jamie.

"Do you think that he's aware of Jessica's conspiracy against their sister.?" I wondered.

Shaking his head, "I honestly don't know" he said, "but if he was supporting her, then he would have been here." dad told me.

"I honestly thought it was Angela and her family all this time and look what I did" I lamented.

"Oh I have a feeling that the Lawrence's are tied in somewhere in all of this. Jessica has recently been recruited."dad says.

" Son, I'm with you in this battle. I have recruited a few men that I personally know who has no affiliation with dad" my father informs me. "I'm so sorry" he continues, "if I had remain in the organization, you and your wife won't be going through this" he looks at bed where both our wives were asleep.

"Hmm, I don't know, if that's true" I mused, "grandfather is determined" I mused, "and I would have grown up in the life with no way of getting out" I told him. "And meeting Jamie would have never happened."

I look at Jamie, while my dad cut through my thoughts.

"How do you feel about Jamie's decision and her pregnancy?" my dad asked as question I've been asking myself for the last couple of hours.

Wiping my face with the palm of my hands, I stare at Jamie. "I've been asking myself that said question since I found out. She's constantly making sacrifices for those that she love and this is another one." I shook my head.

"You know your mother and I would have fought her decision but the doctor told us that once Jamie takes care of herself, she will recover. I think the pain is what's draining her physically" dad said.

"I could never forgive Jessica" I said suddenly.

Dad looked at me with concern.

"How could you have forgiven me when I chose them instead of you and mom?" I asked him for the first time, only to see tears welling up in his eyes.

"Gosh, that wasn't hard at all. Your mom, threw herself into her work and cried herself to sleep at nights." dad told me. "In fact when she heard you were arrested, she grabbed two guns and went after your grandmother" he chuckles softly, filling me with information that I never heard before.

Surprised, "f**k what?" I asked.

All laughter leaving his face, "that's why she's in a wheelchair now" he said, staring at the sleeping women.

"Jamie is so much like your mother and that is something that I'm proud of." He turns to look at me. "Never let this girl go" dad advise me and I laugh as I remember seeing her for the first time.

I got up quickly as I notice Jamie stirring.

"Hey, I said softly touching her shoulders as mom, sat up.

" Water"was all she said, as I met her gaze.

Nodding, I walked to the tray mom bought into the room earlier, and opened a bottle water for her.

Frowning, "haven't you slept yet?" she sips the water looking around.

"Mom you and dad should go to bed, I promise I will call you if I need to" Jamie tells mom as she smiles at dad.

"Yeah, go, I'm here" I tell them.

Mom didn't look convince, "how's the pain and don't lie to me" mom ask Jamie with a stern look.

"Honestly,it's fine," she chuckles, convincingly.

Leaning across, she kisses Jamie in the head and climbs off the bed, "I could do with a little cuddling" she chuckles, walking to my dad, leading him out the room to my embarrassment and Jamie's amusement.

We settled in bed and I breathe a sigh of relief, to be holding Jamie in my arms once again.

"Were you awake all this time?" I ask, suspicious that she heard our conversation.

I took her silence, to mean that she did.

"I need my phone, I need to call my brother" she told me. "Please" she looks anxious.

I reluctantly went to retrieve the phone for her, dialing Jerome's number and putting the speaker phone on.

"Logan, I know you've got Jamie's phone" Jerome instantly spoke without answering with a greeting.

Placing my hand over Jamie's mouth, I responded instead.

"Yeah! Hello to you too" I greeted him.

"How is Jamie?" he asks quickly.

"She's fine. She misses you" I tell him, moving my hand from Jamie's mouth.

"I.. need to get her out of there, but I need your help" he tells me.

"Yeah" I said, staring into the face of the strong woman I married.

"I have a plan, I'll message you." he says,

"Okay, I'm taking her to the doctor in the morning" I informed him.

"Right... yes.. Is she in pain?" he pauses, "I heard what Jess did" he adds.

I look down at Jamie, "you know your sister's good at hiding her feelings" I said, suddenly angry at Jamie.

"Yeah," he pauses, talking to someone in the background.

"I'll message you. Give her a kiss for me" he said and abruptly hangs up.
