CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR

LOGAN'S POV

"Or is it when, one of the siblings, you have been working your ass off to send to a prestigious school of their choice, is constantly in fights and brawls, causing you to end up in court every month to give an account of their spoilt antics? Or maybe, it was when you had to give up your education totally to use your inheritance and college fund to keep a roof over their heads while they still have their inheritance in the bank?" Jamie continues to list her sacrifices out to grandfather, with tears steaming down her face as grandfather's, countenance reflected shock at Jamie's outburst.

"I never asked you for anything!" Jessica stands and shouts at Jamie.

"Am I speaking about you?" Are you that spoilt and disrespectful brat, Mr Daniels is speaking about?" Jamie asks Jessica sadly, before looking up at me.

"Take me to family court" she requested softly.

"Are you done here?"mom asks, softy.

Jamie nods at mom, while I wiped her tears.

"Family court?" Jessica repeated. "Jamie what are you doing?" Jessica asks nervously.

Ignoring her, Jamie moves to stand, while my mom stand, helping Jamie pulled the chair I move to help her stand. I need her to raise her head high and walk out of the dining room.

As my parents followed Jamie and I out, Jessica reaches in front of Jamie, definitely scared. I blocked her from touching Jamie.

"Jamie, what are you going to do to me?" What are you going to tell them?" Jessica is still under her sister's guardianship and will be for the next nine months.

Jamie stares into her sister's scared eyes with a bland expression, void of emotion.

"Jamie" Jessica cried. Her wide eyes full of fear.

I still have no idea what Jamie's plans are but I do know she won't leave her sister.

With a twitch of her eyebrows, Jamie requested that I take her out.

"Logan please, you are also my guardian, please don't let her throw me away." Jessica starts to plead with me.

"Grandfather just advised me to distance myself from disrespectful people" I told her, bending to lift Jamie off the ground, bridal style.

Dad remained at home while mom accompanied us to the doctors office.

Dr Moore gave Jamie a clean bill of health, but advises mom and I to help her avoid stress because that could cause problems in the pregnancy.

The doctor also examined me, but I didn't get a clean bill from him. I'm grateful that mom and Jamie stayed outside.

"Mr Daniels, you need to be on bed rest and don't go lifting your wife this soon. The lifting could have repercussions" the doctor explained.

Even if I felt pain, I kept it hidden from Jamie and mom.

"Your wife requested a wheelchair for the time being because she doesn't want to strain herself as she gets heavier" Dr Moore explains.

Jamie and I didn't discuss a wheelchair. Did Jessica's words cause her to make this decision?

"Do you recommend that she use a wheelchair?" I asked.

Shaking his head, "I did when she first left the hospital, but the family objected" Dr Moore explained. "Actually, I want to put her on bed rest by her seventh month." he notifies me. "I want to keep her safe." he added.

"Yes, we will comply with all your instructions." I agree. " but I have an important request of my own" I tell him trying to read his expression for any sign of betrayal.

Nodding, "I'm listening" he told me.

"The persons who shot at Jamie and I were really aiming at Jamie." I said, noticing the shock in his face. "Her life is still in danger and so far we suspect inside people so I would like you to keep her health updates away from my grandparents and her sister." I added as he nods in understanding.

"Yes, be careful with her sister." Dr Moore says.

I look at him curious now, "what do you mean?" I asked

"I notice during the past two visits, she would shade her sister a lot. Your wife just laughed it off, but belittling her was definitely a sign of a jealous person and her sister clearly jealousies her." he shares his observation.

Smiling gratefully, "thank you doctor and thank you for your support" I stood thanking him but was definitely concern about Jamie.

"Your wife's chair is to help with her mobility around the room or the house, giving her a sense of independence." Dr Moore said as he walked me to the waiting room where Jamie and mom were patiently waiting.

"Ah Mrs Daniels and Mrs Daniels" Dr Moore chuckles, greeting my wife and mother.

Mom stands and walks towards the Dr Moore, touching his arm and slowly walks away with him, to no doubt question him on mines and Jamie's health.

I smiled as mom walks off to see my wife staring at me with a scares nervous expression.

I immediately sat in the chair mom just vacated.

"What is it? Do you need something?" I quickly rattled on, worried.

Shaking her head, "what did Dr Moore say?" she asks.

Relieved that she's fine and just concerned about me.

"I'm good! We're both good!" I chuckle, but she didn't join me.

On a serious note, I held her hands, staring directly in her eyes. "I have to take it easy, but I'm fine" I repeated to her. Hearing the clink of heels, I see mom returning with Dr Moore. "Look, ask him" I said encouraging Jamie, noticing mom's red eyes. What now?

"I've got you a brand new chair, that's automatic. Since you're new to it, I would recommend that you seek assistance always" Dr Moore advises Jamie, but looks at me for assurance of Jamie's safety.

The ringing of Jamie's phone interrupted us. Checking the ID, I see it's dad's. "I have to take this" I said getting up and walking away.

"Dad, speak"
