Chapter 13: Welcome Hero 3

In the church…

A white pillar of light is shining brightly from the circle on the floor towards the sky. If people look closely enough, it would seem as if the pillar is connecting the circle on the floor with the white moon. The old wizard can be seen sweating bullets while chanting without stopping.

His pale face was as white as sheet. Suddenly, the white pillar started to decrease in height. Its height is getting lower and lower until it hit the floor.

"BOOOMMM!!"

A loud booming sound can be heard when the white pillar hit the floor. The sound was so loud that it can be heard from around the world. What is strange about the booming sound is that all the creatures did not hear it from their ears. No, the sound was heard from within themselves or specifically, from their very own soul.

Every person and every creature was able to hear the booming sound and was shocked. When the booming sound was heard, the light whether from the sun, the moon and the stars disappears completely. The darkness consumed the world.

It was pitch black and every creature in this world started to stop doing anything. It was as if all the creatures are frozen. Some creatures feel fear, some creatures felt confused and some creatures were delighted. In the future, this day is forever kept in the record as historical event. It is called 'The Night The Sky Break'.

The people said it was the sign of the apocalypse or even the eve of judgment day, but some people beg to differ. But it will be years later when the people realize that this event was a sign of hope for the oppressed and a warning for the wicked…

Outside the church, Maxim and all his men were frozen in their place. It was pitch dark and no one can see anything even if a person is standing in front of them. When the booming sound was heard, Maxim saw the Pacak explode by themselves. Maxim felt a little relief that the Pacak died before the darkness covered their surroundings.

"Commander!" (Lias)

Maxim heard Lias's voice from the distance.

"Lias! Over here!" (Maxim)

Maxim can hear footsteps approaching him slowly.

"Commander?" (Lias)

Maxim heard a voice from behind him. Maxim turn around and faced the person he assumes to be Lias.

"Yes, it's me" (Maxim)

"…I'm sorry sir… but I have to ask you a question just in case" (Lias)

"It's okay. I understand" (Maxim)

"What did you say to me… before we depart for this mission, sir?" (Lias)

"I say that you can refuse from joining this mission as it was confidential and I can find your replacement." (Maxim)

"Correct. Then you really are Commander Maxim. Sorry, commander" (Lias)

"It's okay. Now it's my turn. What did you reply to me?" (Maxim)

"I reply to you that I will follow you wherever and whenever until I die." (Lias)

"Correct. Nice to know that you're still safe, vice commander. " (Maxim)

Maxim nodded and smiled.

"Thank you, commander" (Lias)

"Where are the others?" (Maxim)

"They seem to be scattered everywhere in this darkness, commander. Should I use some light magic as a beacon sir?" (Lias)

"Hmm… It would be a bad idea if the Pacak saw the light and come at us." (Maxim)

"I saw the Pacak explode when I heard the booming sound. I assume that all of the Pacak around us are dead right now. It should be safe for a while, commander?"

(I saw it too, should I take a risk and regroup with my men? Or just searching for them blindly in this darkness?)

Maxim starts to look around him and he found nothing.

"….." (Maxim)

"Commander?" (Lias)

"Hm..? Owh, sorry I was just thinking for a moment there. I can't see the red light from the Pacak's eyes around here. We should be safe for now. Use the light and let's regroup with the others. I will protect you." (Maxim)

"Alright, commander" (Lias)

Maxim unsheathes his sword and put his shield up. Maxim stands behind Lias and gets ready for any surprise attack. Lias start to raise his right hand in front of him and chanted.

"Light my may and give me light. 'Hadirlah Cahaya'" (Lias)

A yellow orb started to appear above Lias's hand. Even though the orb is as small as a softball, the light it emitted in this pitch darkness was already enough for people to notice from afar. The orb was emitting bright light and it felt warm. Lias raises his hand above his head.

"Every knight listens to me! This is vice commander Lias! Come towards the light and regroup with me and the commander!"

From far away, voices and shouts can be heard.

"What is that light?" (Knight 1)

"It's the vice commander!" (Knight 2)

"The vice commander?" (Knight 3)

"Commander is together with the vice commander!" (Knight 4)

"We're coming sir!" (Knight 5)

Footsteps can be heard approaching Maxim and Lias.

Inside the church, the old wizard was still sitting in cross-legged positions. He was panting heavily.

"Hugh…Hugh…What happened? …Hugh…Did it work?" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard starts to catch his breath and calm down. The old wizard started to realize that it was dark.

"Why is it dark in here? Where is the moonlight?" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard starts to panic.

"Is there something wrong with the ritual? Am I getting blind? That can't be, right?" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard starts to frown.

"Calm yourself. You're a grand wizard. There's no need to panic. Take a deep breath" (Old Wizard)

The old Grand Wizard starts to take a deep breath.

"HUUU…HAAAA…HUUU…HAAA… There we go. " (Old Wizard)

The old wizard starts to feel himself calming down. The old wizard starts to cross his hand and hold his chin with his right hand.

"Now think, you've done everything perfectly. There should be no side effect of you getting blind from performing the ritual….Then, if there is no light, you should make one." (Old Wizard)

The old wizard nodded confidently. The old wizard closes his eyes and opens it a few seconds after.

"It seems that my kuasa is depleted. I should let it refill naturally but I don't have much time right now." (Old Wizard)

The old wizard started to reach his hand into his robe and take out a small glass bottle the size of his palm. It was filled with a reddish liquid that is glowing dimly and it was warm.

"This should refill my kuasa enough to execute a few low spells. " (Old Wizard)

The old wizard pulled out the cork from the glass bottle and downed the liquid as quickly as he can. The old wizard drinks the liquid until the last drop.

"Blerghh! I still can't get used to the taste. I thought that if I gulp it down, I wouldn't be able to taste it. Ptuih!" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard put the cork back into the mouth of the empty bottle and put the bottle back into his robe. The old wizard closed his eyes again and he can sense the warmth from the liquid filling his body. The old wizard opens his eyes and smiles.

"Alright. Now here goes… 'Cahaya'" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard snap his right finger and a few big yellow orbs started to form all around his body. The old wizard raised both his hands upwards.

"SPREAD!" (Old Wizard)

The orbs spread around the interior of the church. The lights from the yellow orb start to shine and clear the darkness away. The old wizard smiles and looks towards the spot where the white circle were.

"!!!???" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard was surprised because a girl was lying on the floor, unconscious.

"W-what!? " (Old Wizard)

The old wizard walks closer to the circle in shock. His expression was changing from utter shock to utter bliss.

"I… did it… I really… did it… IIII DIIIDDDD IIIITTTTT!!!!!" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard's scream of joy was echoing againts the walls of the church. He was jumping all around joyfully, then stops and lay down tired.

"Hugh…Hugh… I did it… I have successfully… *cough*… summon the Hero… my king…" (Old Wizard)

The smiles on the old wizard's face didn't come off for a while. After a few moments, the old wizard stand up and kneeled in front of the statue. He holds his hand together and prays towards the statue.

(Oh Biru, thank you for answering your lowly servant's wishes, I will keep on devoting myself to you and help the hero to banish the evil from this world.)

After the old wizard finished praying, he started to look toward the unconscious hero.

"When I was asking Biru to send a hero, I should have realised that the hero could be a woman." (Old Wizard)

The unconscious hero was beautiful and she seems to be in her early teens.

"She is so young. It will be hard for a girl this young, who just about to reach adulthood, to lift the weight of the world." (Old Wizard)

The old wizard looks at the unconscious hero sadly. She doesn't seem to be wearing any shoes. Her clothes were a bit large for her size. She was wearing dark clothes with a tinge of violet. There were a few holes in her clothes and one of the sleeves was torn off.

"Was she summoned when she was in a war or something? She must be a fearsome and skilled warrior." (Old Wizard)

The old wizard nodded in understanding. The old wizard saw the milky white skin of the hero from the holes in the clothes. The old wizard starts to shake his head from side to side.

"Silly me. I should have prepared some clothes for the hero. I should have been prepared if the hero were summoned when they were clothesless or something." (Old Wizard)

"U-urm…" ( Hero)

"!!??" (Old Wizard)

The unconscious hero starts to open her eyes slowly. When the hero opens her eyes, the darkness just fades away. The moon and the stars start to appear again. The old wizard was confused about what is happening. The old wizard waved his hands and the light orb started to disappear.

It was dark a few moments after the orb was gone but the moonlight starts to shine into the hole above the church's roof. The moonlight shines on the hero's body. The old wizard was amazed by the beautiful scenery that was happening in front of his eyes.

"….." (Hero)

(I should let her calm herself first. She just got here and she might be confused and scared) (Old Wizard)

The old wizard just stares at the hero calmly. When the unconscious hero starts to open her eyes completely, she was in awe. She saw the beautiful white moon and the beautiful sparkling stars. The hero starts to lift her body. She felt tired and weak. She starts to look around her confusingly.

She saw the beautiful goddess statue, Biru, on her left. She was staring at it for a few seconds and then she start to look around the church. Finally, she starts to notice the old wizard. The old wizard bow gracefully in front of the hero and smiles. The old wizard opens up his arms in a bombastic manner and said

"Welcome Her-" (Old Wizard)

Suddenly the hero starts to stand up and ran towards the old wizard. The old wizard was shocked with the hero's reaction and was unable to react to the hero's action. When the hero was almost close to the wizard, something more bizarre happen.

The hero starts to jump with all her might, towards the directions of the old wizard. The old wizard was stunned and unable to process what is happening. The hero was now flying at the same level as the wizard's height when suddenly. Without any warning, the hero did a perfect dropkick towards the old wizard's face.

"R*DER KICK!!!"

"!!?? BUGEHHHH!!!" (Old Wizard)

The old wizard's head was jolted back and his body followed. The old wizard went flying backwards and bounce a few times on the floor. The old wizard stopped bouncing backward when his body hit one of the church's pew. The pew exploded, debris starts flying everywhere and dust started to float around.

It was an amazing sight. The speed the hero used, the precision of the kick and power exerted for the execution of the moves. The dropkick was so expertly performed that it could bring tears to action fans.

The hero landed perfectly with a hero landing, which is one knee on the ground. The old wizard was lying on a broken pew while feeling disoriented. The hero stand up and walk towards the old wizard.

"So you're motherf*cker that kidnapped me and bring me here" (Hero???)

The hero crack her knuckle and smiles devilishly.
