Wolf's Bane

I tried to turn and escape, but found my legs wouldn't move. I glanced down and saw the once gurgling stream had turned black and was winding itself around my legs, pinning them to the ground. The screeching grew louder as the man neared the edge of the stream and continued through the black mess easily as if it were land. He halted in front of me, each screech louder than the last, as he raised the knife and- I opened my eyes, my alarm clock's shrieking bouncing off the walls of my room. ******* Corren Parks is a normal girl with normal problems. Chapter 4

Wow. Just my luck. The day did get worse. I just had to open my mouth and ruin it all, didn't I? Yay me (totally just had a London Tipton moment there).

I couldn't contain my gag as I paused a ways from my locker, the scent of hairspray overwhelming my nostrils. There, crowded in front like a group of plastic penguins with too much lip gloss, were five of the most prissy-assed, wealthy bitches popular girls in my grade. I had to stop and think if it was really worth going over there and asking them to move. Ugggghhhh. Confrontation though... I sighed. I need to get my purse and hurry up, else Alex would give me hell.

I sucked in a deep breath (then choked cause I forgot about all the hairspray) and stiffly made my way over to the rookery of penguins.

"E-Excuse me," I muttered. But they just kept talking.

I tried again, a little louder this time, but to no avail. I was running out of both courage and time, so I decided to try and sneakily squeeze my way through to my locker. I hardly made it a foot before I accidentally bumped one of the birds. Apparently, that was all it took to get their full attention. They snapped their eyes to me, glaring like predators who had just found their next meal.

I gave a shaky laugh. "Ehheh...eh, s-sorry. I was just trying to gettomahlockerbutya," I said, my words starting to string together.

I kept moving forward as I spoke, trying to get in and out as quick as I could. My hand landed on my locker and fumbled with the lock.

"Sorry, I'll be out of your way in just a momen—"

My sentence was broke off by the shriek of one of the girls. While I had been speaking, I had finally managed to open my locker, but in doing so I accidentally knocked over my week-old coffee I had stored in there for... science stuff. I froze as I watched it tumble down onto the shirt of the girl I had just bumped into. I stood there gaping like a fish out of water as she screeched at me.

"OH MY FOCKING GOD! What the hell?! First, you interrupt us, then you spill your gross, cheap coffee on my new top! Just who the hell do you think you are?"

"I am so, so sorry," I began. "I was just trying to get to my locker, but you all were standing in the way."

"And you think that's a reason to come in here and spill your drink on me? You could have at least asked us to move, you little twit," she snarled.

"I did ask you to move, twice actually," stated, my voice rising. "But I guess you just couldn't hear over the sound of your own bitch ass penguin squawking!" (btw, idk if penguins squawk. All I know is that these ones were).

The coffee bitch's eyes grew with fury. "How dare you, you little—"

"That's enough Paige," a deep voice called out.

*******

I saw his eyes first.

A stunning blue so bright, it was otherworldly. It's a shame that they belong to Willimesh's most notorious bad boy. Those blue eyes didn't so much as glance at me as he walked up to the coffee bitch and placed a firm hand on her shoulder.

"That pathetic girl is not worth the effort," he said, his voice steely.

"But she—"

His eyes hardened, and I swear he growled.

"ENOUGH."

The girl—Paige—huffed before turning back to me.

"I'll let you go this time, but I won't forget this. Come on, let's go."

I watched their backs receding down the halls before turning back to my locker, only to see him still standing there.

Liam Alston.

Liam fuckin Alston.

Why now? Why here of all places, did he have to show up? (I mean sure, he's hot, and I'm totally all for that blue-eyed, black-hair thing, but he is way too intimidating. Besides, he is known for being a complete asshole). I stifled a gasp as I quickly turned around to my locker, pretending that I didn't notice him. Apparently, it didn't work.

"You," he snarled.

When I didn't turn around, he threw a hand onto my shoulder and spun me around to face him. Then he firmly grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him. His face was just a couple inches away from mine. If I leaned forward just a bit, I could kiss him...

"Stay out of the way," he said, his husky voice tickling my ears. "If you know what's best for you, then keep to yourself."

With that, he released his grip on my chin and stalked off.

I took one small, backward step until I felt the wall near my locker on my back and sank to the ground.

"What the hell just happened to me??"
