Chapter 32 "A Night Of Chaos"

Around 1:30 a.m, a group dressed in black robe ran towards the South of the city while avoiding the city guards on their way. Their number did not exceed 10 and nine of them were wearing a mask covering their faces. These masks were silver in colour and their expressions were cold. Out of these 10 only one person was dressed in a weird way. He wore T-shirt and camouflage black pant over which he was wearing a bulletproof vest. His face was covered in a black Ski-mask and his eyes we're covered in night-vision goggles. He was also carrying an assault rifle equipped with a silencer. They were Sean and the mercenary squad led be Lucy.

Once they reached the area where the Sapphire restaurant was present, Sean spoke for the first time since the beginning of this journey. "We will take out the guards who are patrolling this area stealthily. To make it seem like the work of the bandits we would have to kill them before attacking the Sapphire restaurant. This mission would comprise of two parts. The first part is killing the guards and it requires stealth and silence and the second part will be the opposite. We will attack the Sapphire restaurant hard and fast both from inside and outside. Our motive is to make the guests scatter in different direction. Don't engage in any battle with these guests if you don't have to. I'll leave the smaller details of the second mission to Ms. Lucy. As for the first mission we will spit into five groups consisting of 2 members in each group".

The members in the team looked towards Lucy to get confirmation before nodding their head. Carmella had already introduced Sean to the group who were selected for the mission and though the group were not happy to listen to a 12 year old newbie, Carmella and Lucy had vouched for Sean and also informed them that Sean had killed Bernard along with two other lackeys. Though they were shocked to hear it, after watching the video, they acknowledged that Sean was capable enough to participate in this mission.

Soon the team split into five groups and went towards the city guards who are spread in this area. The team had known the patrol path of the city guards before hand. Being a mercenary led by a medium level clan it was easy to collect this kind of information. Using this information the team proceeded to ambush the guards. The area was covered by a total of four patrol team each having three members.

Sean teamed up with Lucy and called themselves team 1. It was followed by a two girls, one clearly an archer while the other was a swords woman teamed up forming team 2. Team 3 consisted of a guy and a girl who were clearly in a relationship and the girl wielded a crossbow while the guy had a short sword. Team 4 consisted of two girls and they had swords as their equipment and finally team 5 consisted of two women clearly in their 20's and they both had bows as their weapon of choice. The group contained people who are comfortable with each other while also covering for each other. Sean was the only new one in the group hence Lucy offered to team up with him.

Soon the group moved towards the patrol guards. Sean and Lucy chose a patrol team near the restaurant and set up an ambush near an alley. Sean used his assault rifle equipped with silencer to aim at the guards and waited for them to show their backs. The second they crossed him, he aimed their heads and shot the guard who was walking behind. The guard went down without even having a chance to shout with a hole in his head. Lucy had heard from Sean that the weapon he was carrying as an automatic crossbow.

The guards who were walking in the front did heard a thud from behind due to the guards body dropping on the floor. "What was that?" asked the guard in front and just as he turned behind to see what he heard, his vision darkened and he saw a panicked expression on his companion. However it was already too late as he hit the floor taking his last breath. The other guard was still searching for his enemy with his sword drawn but soon fell to the ground as well with a hole in his head.

Lucy was shocked seeing the scene in front of her. Lucy planned on moving to kill the rest of the guards as soon as Sean killed the first one in order to avoid giving them a chance to get alert and call for backup. She never imagined that Sean would kill all the guards by himself. Meanwhile the other teams progressed in their mission smoothly. Within a span of ten minutes the area was devoid of any guards and the 5 teams regrouped on an alley which was straight ahead of the Sapphire restaurant.

"Team 4 and team 5, position yourself outside the restaurant to stop any guards coming towards the restaurant. Team 1,2 and 3 we will attack the restaurant from the inside" said Lucy and as soon as they heard her orders team 5 moved towards the rooftop of the building which had perfect view of both the restaurant and the alleyway leading to it. As they were archers, they could give back up to team 4 from long distance. Team 1,2 and 3 moved towards the restaurant and readied themselves to burst through the door and attack.

The entire city was quiet and so was the restaurant because of the time, as be it merchants or mercenaries, they never move during the night. Inside the restaurant, apart from a few customers and waitress the rest of the guests were staying in their room. The waitress were either talking amongst themselves or entertaining the guests when suddenly the front door opened. The waitress waiting at the door moved forward to welcome the guests in when she saw a person covered on black robe wearing a silver mask on his face open it while the person beside the guy who opened the door threw a bottle inside the restaurant which rolled to the middle of the hall and the door was closed.

The waitress who was not used to situation like this was shocked and did not react swiftly but the customers who were enjoying the dishes and talking to other waitresses saw a bottle roll before them and shouted "Shit" and just rolled off their seats and ran towards the end of the hall to take cover near the guest rooms but a huge explosion occured before they could reach the end of the hall and the door opened once again with the people dressed in black robes and masks stroming inside the hall.

As soon as the explosion occured Sean and others burst inside the restaurant. The guy from team 3 swung his sword on the blunt end and hit the waitress on her chest, not heavy enough to kill her but just enough to hurry and push her back. The hall was filled with screams of waitress who were frightened by the sudden entrance of the black robed people and painful groans from injured customers and waitresses. Sean and Lucy were the last to enter through the front door and saw the scene inside the hall. The customers and waitresses who were injured from the explosion ranged from ordinary burn wounds to heavily injured with flesh and skin sticking out from their legs and arms or face being disfigured from fire. The entire hall had caught on fire and the magic circuits started to give sparks from malfunctioning. The explosion was loud enough to startle the entire area much less the guests in the restaurant as sound of footsteps running could be heard.

Sean lifted his gun and shot at the waitresses and customers who were gravely injured effectively putting them out of their misery and continued to move towards the end of the hall to go towards the guest rooms of the restaurant. The mercenaries who came with him were shocked by how decisive he was on killing them but soon recovered their expression. "Try to cause as much damage as possible to the restaurant and the guest rooms while avoiding direct confrontation with the guests while Sean and I go towards the VIP section to set the rooms on fire to erase the evidence of poisonous gas.
