Chapter 68

“I must walk my circuit and ensure the town’s borders are protected.” He took another bite and looked over at her. “You are welcome to walk with me, should you wish.”

Siana finished off her breakfast and nodded. “I’d like that, I think.”

“Good, we will clean up and go.” He got up and held his hand out for Siana’s plate. “If we leave soon, we can return before lunch.”

“I’ll get the dishes, Naerin.” Siana stood and took his plate. “You get ready and then we can go.”

She watched him walk away and turned to the sink. How were they going to navigate living together now? Not that it would have been uncomplicated before but there were feelings involved now. She’d given him permission to court her, really court her, and she was nervous and sort of nauseated. It was all going to be ok. She was going to wait and see what happened and whatever it was she had his oath that he wouldn’t betray her.
