He kept his mind fully fixed on his work, not on mourning or on his other feelings, those didn’t matter while he had a job to do for the people here. He was just finishing when he ran across a familiar figure just at the boundary of Winter Haven. Gladys materialized out of the trees, she was talking to Rana and smiled when she looked his way.

“Hello Naerin,” the elder fae waved cheekily at him. “What’s the scuttlebutt from your side of things?”

“My twin has died,” Naerin said, suddenly choked again. “She perished in the fight against the Devourer.” His mother had told him that yesterday and he’d cursed Naessa’s bravado yet again. “Siana has still not decided one way or the other, but I believe she’s getting closer to a decision.”

“Good,” Gladys said, sympathy taking over her expression. “I am sorry about your sister, does Siana know?”
