Naerin worked his circuit, fury still at a low simmer in his gut at what the court had threatened to do to Siana. She deserved better, deserved to make her own decision in what she wanted to do. He was glad he’d gone to tell her; he’d struggled with it for a moment but the specter of the court, of his mother sending another with the express purpose of seducing her turned his stomach. So, he wasn’t going to allow it, he was going to court her himself. It wasn’t going to be true courting, simply a lie to fool his mother. He hated lying, but they were going to lie to Siana, so he felt justified in his decision.
