Chapter 37

Siana leaned her head on the oven and tried not to fall asleep. She was going to close after the breakfast rush and go take a nap. She had three new burns where she’d kept touching the oven racks while she’d been moving Danishes around. So, she was done for the day before she got really hurt.

The door opened and Jake came in. “Hi Siana, how are you?”

“Hi Jake, what can I get for you today?” Siana asked, trying not to lean on the wall. “I made some jammy Danishes if you’d like some of those.”

“Yeah, that sounds really good.” Jake said, taking a close look at her face. “How are you really? Town gossip says Pryderin came to see you.”

“Yeah, I didn’t really sleep last night.” Siana said, finally giving into the urge to lean. “Met my dad though, so that was interesting.”

“Why don’t you go home and go to bed.” Jake said, reaching out a huge hand to rub her shoulder. “I’ll get the pack to come and clean you out so you can go rest.”
