Making a Decision

"What did Soliel take when he came here?"

Vayla hearing Kurao's question, looks up from her book and gives a slight smile that wasn't really a smile as she responds in a now slightly annoyed tone.

"I won't divulge much about what he choose, but he took a ring that helps with processing information." Vayla then returns to her book leaving Kurao to his thoughts.

'So something like the glasses I am wearing right now... He didn't take anything that amplified his affinity or make it faster for him to cultivate mana? Or maybe the item he choose was more then just processing information'

Kurao felt like he was getting an idea of what parameters to this supposed 'test' were.

'Well that doesn't really cross off items that help me use spells faster, but that may or may not cross off Elemental Affinity boosting items.'

He sighs feeling that it this was a little much to put a child in a treasure trove much less an adult, and that an item of his choosing will be judged by his father.

'So the options I have are accessories, unknown tools but even I don't know which tools are safe, so I feel it would be too risky to pick something from that pile.'

Kurao then looks at the book in his hand before realizing.

'Now I can't even choose a elemental spell either! That is too cruel.'

Standing up in defeat, he steps on bookshelf as he puts the white cover spell book back on the shelf, but before stepping down he snatches a black cover book from the highest shelf from the second column.

The unexpected weight of the book makes his way down a little shaky, he quickly gets stable before looking on the cover of the book he stares at the title as he gets slightly confused.

'Isn't this the same type of book that is on the bookshelf outside here?'

Kurao was slightly confused why there was another unreadable book like the books that he was skimming through earlier from his father's bookshelf. Still staring at the title he was surprised more realizing that the glasses he was wearing, that could even decipher high grade dwarven runes as well as translating languages that he didn't even know, couldn't even translate the title of the book.

'I still cant even read this, even with these special glasses? What is this language some type of lost language?'

He flipped through a few pages of the book, but stops quickly noticing that there were little pictures in this book unlike the books he read on the shelf. He focuses on it and even recognizes it, the picture showed a drawing of an item he was very familiar with, a Pen. Kurao was a little confused why there was a half baked blueprint of a pen.

Kurao flipped the pages finding many different things he recognized and things he didn't. Some of the pages were filled with the unreadable language and no pictures while others were poor blueprinted items or just a drawing of it. Flipping onto another page there was picture example of a poorly drawn human that seemed to be depict the anatomy of a person, to Kurao seeing the anatomy he remembers seeing it before in a book from the royal library.

The difference in this one though showed it with a circle drawn on the right side near the poorly drawn heart shaded in a light blue ink. Surrounding the figure was wave lines all pointing towards the poorly drawn human.

Not understanding any of it Kurao continues flipping pages and occasionally stopping, He passed a few pages showing fashion designs, food items, human anatomy but slightly differed shading ink as most of it related to the circle on the right side beside the heart.

He kept flipping before stopping on a page showing a blueprint of the weapon he was messing with earlier the one that had no mana or runes and wasn't really affective as one. This catches Kurao's attention seeing it in so many different parts compared to the straight forward weapons that exist.

The poorly drawn versions of the weapon in different shapes didn't have any blueprints and were just drawings of it, compared to the first version that had a full half-baked blueprint of the item he was using earlier in the weapon section. Kurao quickly devolved as he got immersed in book, forgetting that he was supposed to be searching for the item he was gonna take out with him.

'This book has so many ideas and things, but I don't even know what half of these pictures are meant to be. The only section of the book I fully understood was probably the one with pictures of all the food as I am familiar with all of them.'

'But there is quite a few things I don't even know, and things relating to that metal stick and most of the pages with the drawn human anatomy I have no clue.'

Being so absorbed in the book he didn't notice that he flipped through all the pages. Seeing that he was at the end of the book he closes as he closes his eyes for a moment and lets his brain process all the drawings he skimmed at.

Kurao breaths out and opens his eyes upon the realization that he still needs to choose something to pass his father's 'test'. Kurao puts the book fairly big book it weighed around 3.1kg and was almost the size of his of torso. Getting up Kurao does a tour around the accessories, tools, and the 2nd column of books even though they were like the first book he pulled down and were more about insider information on certain subjects like the fabled 'Demon King' and about the secret history of the 'Eversky Empire' more honest history books.

Kurao took off the glasses and placed them back on the table as he paced back and forth trying to come to a decision on which item he should take out.

'It should be useful to me now and even useful for me later. It can't be a Elemental Spell sadly. So my choices are quite limited amongst these items.'

In front of Kurao was a pair of glasses he was using for most of the tour, a book about runes and even a little bit about ancient runes that were almost forgotten to time but saved by the book, a ring that increase casting speed for Ice element based spells by 65% almost seven times better then anything available.

A small forge hammer with the initials R.S, and a unreadable semi-picture book. Kurao swept his gaze upon five items in front of him, after a few minutes to finalizes his decision as he lets out a nervous sigh as he calls the woman who has been reading a book on the chair since they arrived.

"Aunt Vayla I have made my decision." Kurao said slightly nervously, hoping that his decision would be accepted by his father.
