A Lead

"Was that the only question you had for me little Kurao?"

Kurao folded his arms at the response.

'Should I ask why Soliel was in earlier? Though he could've been here to just visit his mother, but from all my time around Aunt Vayla I have not seen him visit once.'

Vayla just looked at him while he was deep in thought and chuckled slightly.

Kurao responding to her question asked,

"Why was Soliel here earlier?"

Vayla who was just chuckling at Kurao's deep thought habit, stiffened slightly before a sad look cross her face as she explained.

"It wasn't much, Soliel just came mostly to give me information about one of our current plans for Bryhorn."

'Bryhorn that little kingdom, what does Soliel have to do with that?'

Kurao who still had that same deep thought expression. Vayla who felt upset slightly at recalling didn't really notice it, as

her expression was gloomy as she stirred her tea cup with a spoon, before taking another sip.

"Is that all the questions little Kurao?"

Snapping Kurao back out of his thoughts, he realized that Vayla was in a bit of a sour mood so he decided to drop anymore questions about Soliel. But he had one question that was eating up at him even though he was trying to suppress it and his curiosity for it,

"Aunt Vayla since you work in the Intelligence Department, do you who gave the idea for the new number system?"

"Why do you ask?"

Vayla asked a bit confused why Kurao would be asking for something that seemed a bit obscure or out of norm for his curiosity.

"Well I would like to speak to who came up with the number system, for some insight on a problem I am having."

"I don't know if you will be able to speak to them directly for a while, since that person is quite busy to help you with your problem."

Vayla then gave a comforting look,

"But if you have a problem I can perhaps help?"

"Thank you, but I specifically need that person. Are they not available to help the prince, even for a moment?"

Hearing Kurao being so persistent, Vayla sigh as she explained,

"Kurao the person who came up with the new numerical system that is being pushed by the teaching department of the empire."

Kurao eyes widened upon hearing that it was his father that came up with the new number system things started to click about the books on the shelf, but that left him with more questions.

"Aunt Vayla those books over there you said they were related to someone father knew?"

Kurao pointed at the bookshelf full on bland looking books. Vayla nodded,

"Yes, according to what Husband said to me, those books are related to someone who meant a lot to your father who passed away."

'So maybe it isn't a dead end? This is the first lead I found for the book, and on accident on that.'

Seeing how once again Kurao was delved into thought who had his arms crossed while looking into his lap with such a concentrated face, Vayla decided break him out of his thoughts,

"If that is all the questions you have for me, I have to prepare some work. You are free to come back anytime to ask questions or to check in."

Kurao who understood that she was 'kicking him out' got up,

"Thank you for answering my curiosity."

"You are welcome little Kurao"

Vayla gave a slight smile as Kurao walked out the door.

Hearing the door close behind him, he started walking back towards his room.

'If father is the one who pushed for the new number system, he must also know what is within those texts!'

Gripping his fists a shine was seen from his diamond like blue eyes.

'Of course he knows what is written in them! He must've actually been the one who wrote them, and not only the ones on the shelf but the one in my possession as well!'

As I already have the rest of this volume and next volume outlined, just not written.
