"Let my daddy handle that, you just do your work! I need to go to sleep, get out of my bedroom!" a man yelled.
Creak! The door opened, revealing a woman with tired eyes leaving the room.
She walked past me, completely unaware of my presence. I stepped to the right to ensure she could continue walking.
Thud!
"Ack!" I cried out as my leg accidentally hit the table.
I clutched my leg, wincing in pain. It was my smallest toe that had taken the brunt of the impact.
"Hmm?" The woman stopped and looked around, confused by the noise.
I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. The woman's gaze swept the hallway, searching for the source of the sound. I held my breath, hoping my invisibility would hold.
Her eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of suspicion crossing her face. "Was that... something?" she muttered to herself, her gaze lingering on the table I had accidentally hit.
"F*ck," I cursed under my breath. I had blown my cover. I had to think fast.
Suddenly, an idea sparked in my mind. Imagine... a cat running across the hall.
A moment later, a fluffy white cat materialized out of thin air, scampering across the hallway and disappearing around the corner. The woman's eyes widened in surprise, her suspicion replaced by a look of bemusement.
"Oh, it was just a cat," she said, shaking her head with a chuckle. "I thought there was a ghost in here..."
She closed the door again, and I let out a sigh of relief. That was a close call. I needed to be more careful.
I cautiously peeked into the room, and my heart skipped a beat. It was the study, exactly as IM had described. A massive mahogany desk dominated the center of the room, its surface covered in papers and electronic devices. A large bookshelf lined one wall, filled with leather-bound volumes and ornate trinkets. And in the corner, partially hidden by a velvet curtain, stood a gleaming safe.
I grinned. We had found our target.
I walked closer to the bed where the rich kid was sleeping soundly.
Imagine... he sleeps deeply and can't even hear someone approaching until morning, I imagined, focusing my energy.
Then, I placed the fake debt papers on his desk, making sure they were clearly visible.
"This should finish it... and we should take his money..." I looked around and found his phone charging on a nightstand.
As I picked up the phone, I saw numerous messages from someone named "Sweetheart."
Ew.... I thought, cringing inwardly.
"This guy has a girlfriend?" I mumbled and tried to open the phone. Of course, it was password protected.
And even better, it required a fingerprint to unlock.
I walked back over to the sleeping figure and carefully lifted his finger, pressing it against the phone's sensor.
The phone unlocked with a soft click, granting me access to its contents. I quickly navigated to his banking app, transferring a significant portion of his funds to a dummy account that Dove had set up earlier. I made sure to leave enough behind to avoid arousing immediate suspicion.
Next, I scrolled through his messages, searching for any incriminating evidence that could link him to the stolen WRA Company ideas. I found several conversations with a contact labeled "Anonymous," discussing confidential project details and strategies to undermine Dove's company.
"Bingo," I muttered, a triumphant grin spreading across my face.
I quickly forwarded the messages to Dove, then deleted them from the phone, ensuring no trace of our intrusion remained.
Just as I was about to put the phone back, a notification popped up on the screen. It was a message from "Sweetheart."
Curiosity piqued, I couldn't resist taking a quick peek.
The message read: "Hey babe, can't wait to see you tomorrow. Don't forget our date, okay!"
...this dude is getting a date when he's about to go broke? Heh, I thought, a smirk playing on my lips.
Just then, I opened his banking app again, hoping to access her account, but it was locked. I didn't know his password or any other security details.
Or maybe his girlfriend knows his password? I thought, a new idea forming in my mind.
I sat down on the carpet, leaning against the bed, and started a new chat.
[Matthew: Hey babe, do you remember my bank PIN?]
This guy's named Matthew... ah yeah, just like Yolan said...
I waited with bated breath for a response, my fingers tapping impatiently on the phone screen. A few minutes later, a reply popped up.
[Sweetheart: Of course I do, silly! It's your birthday, remember? 011101. Why do you need it?]
01... 11... 01... geez, this dude is older than me? How old is he? 20? I thought, a bit surprised.
I smirked. This was going even better than I had expected. I quickly typed a response, trying to sound casual.
[Matthew: Oh, right! Thanks, babe. I just need to transfer some money for a project, and I forgot my wallet at home.]
[Sweetheart: No problem! Just don't spend it all on video games, okay? 😉]
[Matthew: I won't, I promise. See you tomorrow!]
I quickly opened his banking app again, entered his birthday as the PIN, and voila! The account unlocked. I transferred a substantial amount to the same dummy account, making sure to leave a trail that would implicate Matthew in the embezzlement scheme.
With a satisfied grin, I placed the phone back on the nightstand and rejoined IM and Yolan in the hallway.
I saw IM and Yolan, both of them holding a bag.
"What do you guys have?" I asked, curious.
"Gold, accessories, money," IM replied casually.
"Xian, make this bag invisible," Yolan requested.
I nodded and focused my power, visualizing the bag fading from view. A moment later, the bag shimmered and disappeared, leaving only Yolan's hand holding empty air.
"Perfect," she grinned. "Now let's get out of here before anyone wakes up."
We silently made our way back to the kitchen, carefully avoiding the maids who were still busy with their late-night tasks. IM opened the back door, and we slipped out into the cool night air.
As we walked back towards our motorcycles, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. We had successfully infiltrated the rich kid's house, gathered evidence of his wrongdoings, and relieved him of some of his ill-gotten gains. It wasn't exactly heroic, but it was a step in the right direction.
We arrived back at the WRA Company building, the stolen loot safely tucked away in Yolan's invisible bag. Dove, Irune, and Aca were waiting for us, their faces alight with anticipation.
"So, how did it go?" Dove asked eagerly.
"Mission accomplished," IM declared, a triumphant grin spreading across his face.
"It looks a bit weird seeing you guys in those suits... can you make them more like... comic book superhero outfits, with more variety?" Dove asked, a playful glint in her eyes.
"These are suitable for us," I replied, feeling a bit defensive about my creations.
"So everything went well?" Dove asked, a hint of concern in her voice. "Does the maid already know about the situation?"
As she said that, my jaw dropped. "I forgot!" I exclaimed, a wave of panic washing over me.
