When the Reader Descends Into the Novel With a System

Darkness and light. Two extremes coexisting. A law of equivalent exchange, balancing the world. Where there is light, there must be darkness. And as such, where there is darkness, there must be light. That is the rule of the world my child, and you are the one balancing on the fine line, stuck in between. An anomaly. An abomination. Where you go, death and destruction follow. That will be your fate. You are the one and only son of the darkness, mothered by the daughter of the light. What path will you walk my child? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of Kurayami Akimitsu, a contradiction of light and darkness, and I, who reincarnated into his body. In this world based off a novel I had read, what will happen with the addition of me, an unknown entity? Who knows everything about the future of this world. Will I survive with this identity? Only time will tell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently on HIATUS. This is my WSA 2022 submission. A/N: So this is going to be the second novel that I will seriously write, with an upload rate of 7 chapters a week. My inspirations for this novel were TAPOV (The Author's POV) and DWTN (Dance With the Nightingale) but the world building will be extremely different and the backstory of the MC will be unique also. The ranking system will be the same, but it's the same ranking system across a lot of novels, so I think it's okay for me to use? There also might be cliches like an academy and an auction, but again, I'll make it as different from the norm as possible. I hope that this will be a refreshing take on the "mob character becoming overpowered genre" for you guys. Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. Just comment if there is a mistake anywhere. The first 10 or so chapters are filled with world building stuff, so I hope you'll stick with it and read it as I tried to make it all original. After the first 10, the story should pick up and the action will start, so please don't drop it after only reading a few chapters. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/8ePQESSSHT Finally, as always, thanks for reading! All names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this story are purely fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, or products are intended. Note: The cover doesn't belong to me. If you are the original owner and want me to take it down, please leave a comment on my latest chapter.

Dao Beasts (3) - 92

You know, traveling with somebody with as high of an IQ as yourself was such a releasing venture.

We didn't even need to talk, we could both tell what the other wanted or needed from just their body language and the context clues surrounding us in the world.

I mean, the only thing that I didn't like about traveling with her was the fact that I, the child that was one year older, was not the one supporting the younger one, but that she was the one supporting me.

Like, I knew that she had the strength of a grown man, so helping me walk by supporting my right side was an easy task for her, but it was damaging my pride just the tiniest bit.

Anyways, after we had traversed a fair portion of the cave, we were finally met with something that showed us that what we were doing wasn't for naught.

There, in front of us were two pillars jutting out of the ground, and each pillar had an orb filled with this bright white ball of energy in it.

These were dao beast souls, and they were the two that I had been looking for all this time.

But, nothing ever came for free, as we both suddenly heard voices in our heads.

//Oh! What luck!

//I know right? Two at the same time, and they're of opposite genders! We'll be able to fulfill the qualifications right away!

That was the last thing I heard, as afterwards, one of the bright orbs suddenly burst out of the pillar it was sitting on and it then punched straight into my gut.

The other one did the same thing, but to her, so we both flew back at the same time from the impacts.

And then, everything blacked out for me, and, because we had been holding each other the entire time, I knew, I knew that she too, was falling down into the abyss.

It swallowed us whole.

...

'Aughhhh...'

Groaning on the inside, I clutched my head, as I felt the sensation of having a body returning to me slowly, wiggling my hands and feet until the tingling sensation left my limbs, and my blood was able to flow again.

And, seeing how my soul suddenly felt a little less empty than before, I knew that I had bonded with a dao beast.

But, just what was in the contract?

After all, I knew that these dao beast souls would have never allowed us to posses them if we didn't give them something in return.

I mean, in the original novel, they had tried to voice their terms, but the 5 year old villain had suppressed both of them without letting either of them say a word, forcing a contract onto them with her heavenly constitution.

Now that I was here, this event didn't happened, and, for some reason, the dao beast souls had actually taken the initiative in this run through, establishing contracts with us out of their own volition.

At the very least, I was pretty sure the dao beasts wouldn't betray her anymore, as, now, she had never forced them to do anything.

Yet, why were there two dao beasts in my spiritual sea? And, how did my spiritual sea suddenly grow bigger even though I hadn't done anything special?

//We'll explain it to the both of you after your partner wakes up.

Hearing a voice suddenly talking in my head, I just nodded, as I wasn't a stranger to voices in my head.

And, seeing that she was, indeed, still out cold, I just sat there, returning the favor by letting her head rest on my lap until she woke up.

Oh yeah, also, after fusing with the dao beast souls, all my injuries had suddenly healed, so I was now fully capable again.

Yet, something was still weird about my eyes, as, even though I could still see perfectly again, I could see a little bit too perfectly.

It was as if... I could see the flow of energy in this world?

There were these flowing rivers of shining energy all around me, blue, red, yellow, white, of every color, and instinctively, I could tell that it was spiritual qi.

//You can see the spiritual qi of the world because you accidentally inherited my eyes whilst I was healing you.

//Did my partner inherit anything?

//No, you were just lucky.

With this clarification, I was a little shocked, as she should have been the one blessed by this lucky opportunity just due to the fact that she was one of the main characters of this world.

But, because she wasn't blessed with this opportunity, then did that mean that my luck was somehow greater than hers?

//What's the name of these eyes?

//You can think of them as the "Wandering Swan's Eyes", although, to me, they are just my eyes.

//And, is seeing the spiritual qi around me all that these eyes can do?

//No, there are more functions, but you haven't started cultivating yet, so it is impossible for you to use them right now.

Oh, even more benefits, that was unexpected.

After all, I had never heard of these "Wandering Swan's Eyes" before, but, I could postulate why this was.

I mean, she had forcibly made contracts with these dao beast souls in both the novel and my past regression, so it was only normal that they had never given her any benefits except for the most basic uses of themselves.

If only she had not taken these dao beast souls by force... she would have probably survived every single time then...

"Huuuuaaaaap!"

Hearing a sharp gasp coming from below me, I looked down to see that she had woken up.

Seeing that she wasn't dazed, even though she had just woken up after being knocked out, we nodded at each other, as we both waited for the dao beast souls to explain to us the situation that we were in.

//So, care to explain now?

3/5 for today.

Thanks for reading!
