Emma’s POV

Seeing his despondent expression, I couldn't help but want to laugh.

Hahaha, it was rare to see the proud Alpha Saunders in such a low state. How could I pass up the opportunity to tease him?

I lowered my eyes and tried to put on a serious expression, "Yes, life is unpredictable, Hector. You just have to accept your fate!"

Hector closed his eyes in despair, "You should leave. I want some peace and quiet."

"How could I? You ended up like this because you tried to save me. I must stand by you."

My righteousness was met with Hector's ruthless rejection, "No need!"

"Are you sure you don't need it?"

"Get out!"

Hector's icy words seemed to come from a frozen cave, "I don't want to say the same thing twice!"

Then, Hector's phone rang. He didn't pick it up, but the ringing didn't seem to stop.

"Well, Hector... I'll step out for a bit."

I raised an eyebrow and said understandingly.
