Chapter Six -One-Sided

Nife's POV

I changed into the shirt he gave me to wear after l was done with bathing. I stood in front of his wall mirror inside the restroom to admire myself, the bruise on my lips is still obvious while the swollen side of my face is getting better.

I sighed inwardly, what a day!

My hair was just done with a normal weave with my natural hair, just for me to put on my short wig and go about my day.

Right now I am just on my natural look. I look at myself well again, the shirt may seem big but being that am tall, the shirt seems small on me, exposing my lap a bit.

What can l do, rather than manage it just for tonight? I grope my stomach and rub it repeatedly, and am mostly very hungry.

I left the restroom after that, my eyes not escaping to notice the two toothbrushes on the cup placed on the wall mirror island. For some unknown reason, I felt hurt.

"Oh, my God!, you scare the hell out of me, what do you think you are doing??" I screamed my life out the moment l stepped out of the restroom.

Only to see Dd rummaging through the things inside his room, the only thing different now is that he is putting on a singlet exposing his muscles and biceps.

This is no time to admire,

"Oh, I'm sorry, about that!" He apologizes while touching his eyebrows and hissing slightly.

"I never meant to freak you out," he explained and headed towards the room door.

He opened the door to stop midway and turned his head to look at me over his shoulder. "I made noodles and eggs, care to join?" He asked me.

Was l dreaming? The Young hair of Ademola's can cook?

"Are you sure the slap, no slap your head signals comot??" His voice reverberates throughout the room again but this time, to annoy me.

I frowned deeply and shot back at him.

"You are seeking death baa??"

He just laughed, revealing his awesome sparkling white teeth, and stared at my bare feet. "The shirt looks hot on you!" He commented and left just like that.

What just happened?

I asked no one in particular and followed behind him.

"Nife!"

"Nife!!"

"Nife!!!"

Collins's continuous screaming of my name woke me up from my trance,

"Yes, "

"Yes,"

I unconsciously replied.

"For the Love of God, please be down to earth, Nife…" Collins added with a worried expression.

I rub my forehead head tiredly and look at the clothing sketch before me on the top of my desk, much work to be done,

Still am here, drowning in past thoughts. Probably this get-together of a thing sprang the whole thing up.

I sigh again and look at Collins who slowly sips the tea on his mug while he shakes his head at me.

"So, where are we??" I implore as l grab the table water, uncock the cover, and pour the content in my mouth to feel alive.

"Feeling much alive??"

Collins chose to ask me instead, I nodded and exhaled as well.

"Yh, l am… so, where are we?" I ask again.

"The last sketch of suit pants we drew will be used for the next fashion festival.

We are working on getting the basic design of the wedding gown requested by the president's daughter!" Collins explains eloquently.

I nodded, and he shook his head,

"Now, shall we?" He asks me again, I look up at him and return my gaze to the unfinished sketch beneath my palms.

"Sure!"

I replied without looking up, picked up my pencil, and got to work.

I can feel Collins smiling and nodding at me satisfied before returning to his work in designing the patterns.

….

Around 4 pm, that same day,

Ada drags me around the shopping mall, all in the name of getting the best gifts. I wonder what the big deal is?

She obviously won't let me off if I do not follow her.

"Eeh… Nife, let's check that store, they will probably have the best men's wear!" Ada excitedly voices out, while dragging me on her heels, almost running.

I could not help but smile.

"Haba… Ada, l still can't place my hands on the reason you are taking this whole thing seriously. It's still a get-together, remember??" I tried reasoning with her.

She rolls her eyes at me, clicks her heels to a sudden hot, and turns to face me.

"That's the point? The get-together made it so special, tho… we got our differences, but I can't forget the ones who were there for me so easily!!" She explains while rolling her eyes at me.

"My, God! I don't mean it that way, Ada!" I slap my forehead with my right palm while chasing after her leaving back that is entering the next shop.

"What! ever!" She snaps and enters the shop without turning around.

"Whoa, is she angry? This girl…" I shook my head and couldn't help but smile as l followed after her.

We both remain silent as we browse through the men's wear. She's probably still mad at me, but I was just stating the fact.

"What did you think of this Shirt?"

Ada suddenly asks me while holding up a white shirt with light blue stripes in front of me, I can see she wants to have my opinion,

"Well,"

I started but she cut me off.

"Nee… anya, just don't start, Nife just don't start!" She warns why, shaking her head and faking a frown.

I can't help but burst into a loud laugh.

"Nife… what's funny?"

She implores, frowning deeply.

Ada my friend can be more cute at times and raking at times.

"Nothing… I'm just assuming something?" I explain while raising the question.

Ada dims her eyes a little, changes her standing position, and places her hands on her waist.

"Like, what?" She asks me, why l patiently observe her reaction. Her eyelashes flutter a bit no matter how calm she tries to be.

"Ada, who's the lucky Guy out of them all?" I throw the question at her, making her gasp in shock.

"Deji? Jide?" I probe on not backing down. Ada went stiff and tried to avoid the subject the moment I mentioned Jide's name.

"Oh, my! Jide it is, wow, since when?" I inquire, surprised and excited at the same time.

"Hold on, it's not like you think!" Ada interrupts me and clarifies.

"Oh, one-sided I see… but don't worry I got your back!" I assure her with a smile.

After that, we picked up a few things we needed from the mall, paid, and ended the day by going to the karaoke.
