Chapter 1

It was past midnight when Natalia received an unexpected phone call. Before she answered the call, she was excited because tomorrow she will be awarded with the Fields Medal for Mathematics as she is one of the outstanding Mathematician in the country and is 34 years old.

It was Mrs. Susan who called her. Natalia was puzzled to get call in the middle of the night. Mrs. Susan's depressed voice made her panic as soon as she answered.

"Lia…" From the hoarse voice it was clear that Mrs. Susan was crying.

"What happened Aunt? Why are you crying?" Natalia sat straight as she asked.

"Lia… My son… Evan. He got into an accident! Doctors said he can't --- make it…" Mrs. Susan broken down when she said it.

"Wh—What did you say??" Natalia felt that her ears were playing with her. The sudden news were like a roar thunder, echoed in her peaceful mind.

"I know it is not proper to ask, but— could you please come over here?" Mrs. Susan hesitated a lot before she can bring herself to ask.

Natalia went silent. Her mind was buzzing.

Mrs. Susan was disappointed but she said in understanding. "It's alright Ms. Natalia. Sorry to disturb you at this hour." She hung up as she said.

Natalia snapped out from her thoughts when she heard the beep sound from the other side. She placed the phone near the bedside table. She don't know why but her heart was paining so much… A feeling that she never felt before was suffocating her.

Even when she divorced David, the man she loved for ten years, she didn't feel this much hurt. Now, when she heard that Evan is going to leave this world, her heart was feeling so heavy. Her soul seems to be whispering to her that she is going to lose something very precious to her.

Natalia lied on the bed with a heavy heart. She closed her eyes, trying to catch a sleep to forget about this call. But as soon as she closed her eyes, she could only see Evan in her mind.

Evan Scott, heir of top aristocratic family, her ex-

Till this day, she still didn't understand why he was so hurt that time. That was the first time they met, there is no way he fell for his friend's bride deeply at one glance.

They met countless time after that. Before others he was always indifferent, his eyes were cold without a hint of warmth. But when he saw her, his eyes would reflect deep pain and endless affection. He often helped her whole heartedly. But he never ill-behaved or crossed the line when they met, except once…

Six years ago, the day she and David divorced. That night, she kept drinking until she lost her senses. But the next day, she woke up beside Evan. That day, she cut all her ties with him and made him promise not to appear in each other's life again. She didn't give him a chance to talk

about anything just this promise, stay far away from her.

Till now she didn't understand why?

He should just be a passer-by in her life…

At Hospital.

The red light above the operation theater finally turned off.

A group of doctors came out with heavy feelings. Outside, Mrs. Susan approached them as soon as she saw them.

"Doctor, my son! Is he--" Mrs. Susan couldn't complete as her words struck in her throat. She knew the answer. This surgery won't make any difference. But as a mother, she have to hold up with every single way to save her son.

Even if it is just a spark of life and hope.

Doctors gazed at Mrs. Susan who was like a broken mirror. No one would believe that this woman with fatigue, worry and anxiety all over her face is the former Legendary Female Tigress in Business Industry who single handedly protected the whole Scott Family after her husband died just when their son had turned three years old.

"Mrs. Scott… We are sorry for your lose. We failed to save him…" The doctors bowed and left from there.

Mrs. Susan stood there like a puppet. She expected this and was prepared the whole night to accept this news.

But still…

It still pierced her heart. It was for her son she became strong and moved on from her depression of losing her husband. Now… He left her alone too.

Tears roll down breaking all her restriction when a nurse pushed out Evan's body out of the operation theater covered in a white cloth. Mrs. Susan walked to her son's body while her heart breaking into millions.

The nurse beside the stretcher removed the white cloth covering his face for her. Evan's handsome face was lying under the white cloth. His handsome face had turned pale and his lips. But still there was an unapproachable aura around him even after death… No one could expect that this man is already 40 years old. In the accident, a sharp glass had pierced straight into his heart and he already lost a lot of blood by the time he was taken to the hospital.

Mrs. Susan caressed her son's head gently. Even though tears streamed down on her face she didn't make any sound. Looking at her son's cold body, she can only whisper in her heart,

'Evan, mom couldn't bring her to see you last time. I hope my son will have a happy life with your love in next life…'

Mrs. Susan kissed his forehead with all her love for her son for the last time and again covered his face with the white cloth…
