Chapter Twelve: I CAN'T RESIST YOU

Lesley's POV

I'm still staring at the dark sky when I heard growls. I know it was an enemy. I looked at Harley's direction who was still sleeping before I grabbed my rifle.

The heck. I can now clearly hear the growl. It comes from a shadow demons. And it's not just few. I heard a lot of them. And they're getting near. No time to wake Harley up who's probably now wandering in the dreamland.

I took one step backward. I can handle them, I supposed.

They finally showed up. Thank God I was invisible. I almost faint. I was right. They're really shadow demons. And they're not just scary, they're huge too. All of them were gaping over sleeping figure of Harley. They've probably seen him as an easy target. Too bad for them, I can't let them harm him.

When they started to attack, I gathered my leg's strength to jumped backward pointing my rifle to them. I shot first those who were in front until the last. In just seconds, I shot them all. All shadows I hitted scatters in air but as if they had their own mind, they back again into their previous form.

"What the heck." I mumbled. They already saw me and it was me now they chasing.

Before they could come near me, I shot them continuously. Black bullets were falling continously, too.

I never missed targets. All of them were hitted but just like the first. They were only scattered but would back into their demon form.

What the heck. What should I do? I stopped firing. I just stood there reverently. Planning what should I do. Observing what will they do next.

If I'll make myself invisible now to make them believe I've left, they will surely do something to my brother. Harley could help me here. Maybe he knows how to defeat these kinds of evils, but what the hell. Since baby, he slept like an oil in a coldest jar. Not a World War III could wake him up.

Jeez! They're now going to attack me. I I positioned myself to defend when out of nowhere, a glistening blades comes their way. "Break the limits!" I sighed in relief. It was Gusion's voice. His blades were hanging in the air, pointing towards enemies. For a fleeting moment, I held my breath to watched if his weapons could affect the evil shadows.

He moved to overpass the enemies in an incredible speed. I was awed when his blades darted lethally. Two enemies vanished.. for good. "The magic lies in the mind, but my blades follows my heart." After saying that, he looked at me and winked. What the heck. Was that necessary? I couldn't suppressed my smile. I was really amused.

"Take a guess how many swords I have?"

I shot one of the shadow near me. I know it won't be effective but I still did. Wanting to help him. "I don't know." Do I need to count?

He attacked the remaining evils. "Just try to keep up with me."

Hell. He's incredible. He looked so cool. And why he was always looking at my direction? Was he trying to impress me?

Well, he succeeded.

"My blades moves with a shadow." He uttered while he stood motionless, looking at the ground, sword on one hand. The last enemy gradually vanished.

Wow! He defeated all just like that.

I hid my rifle. That's when I realized, I was so tired.

I roughly sat on the grass. Sucking for air. Gusion did the same. "You okay?"

I sighed wearily. "Yeah. Thank you." He just shrugged. Very curious, I continued. "Why my weapon didn't affect those demons when yours work on them?"

"Those kind of demons have gathered so much force and energy already. Their only weakness were powerful light. I was seven when I mastered light elements. I uses powerful light in all aspects."

He reached for my rifle and unarmed. He inspected my bullets.

That was then I understood. "My bullets were as black as them. That was why they never worked on them."

"I wasn't just an assassin." He looked at me seriously. Not noticing what I stated. "I'm a mage as well. I could make this bullets of yours a light-charged ones."

"Why would you do that?"

He shrugged once more. "So that if I wasn't around, you could still protect yourself."

I swallowed a lump in my throat. This man...

He didn't wait my response. He focused on the bullets he's holding and uttered chants I can't understand.

I was surprised when my black bullets glittered for few seconds. Then it turned into a silvery bluish white ones. I was amazed.

He gave those to me. "Keep them."

"Thank you."

He didn't answer. Instead, he held my rifle with two hands and uttered another unexplainable chant. Much longer this time.

Just like my bullets, the rifle transformed into a more beautiful one. Wide eyes, I looked at him. "How did you-- of course, you're a mage. But, it's incredible." I kissed his cheek. "Thank you."

He cupped my nape, pulled me closer and kissed my lips. I was aghast. Before I could push him, he ended the kiss. "Welcome."

The heck. "That's your way on saying welcome?"

"That's my way on saying I can't resist you."
