As the black horses pulled the "worn-out carriage" through the muddy soil, their hooves sank deeper with each step.
Pitter!! Patter!!
The light drizzle that had been falling since their departure from the capital slowly began to slowly intensify, fat droplets splattering against the carriage roof with increasing frequency.
Boom!!!
Thunder crashed overhead, the sound reverberating through the air like the angry roar of a wild beast. Flashes of lightning illuminated the darkened sky, briefly casting eerie shadows across the wet landscape.
The carriage rocked and swayed as the wind intensified, making it harder for these black horses that had been running for nearly 8 hours to maintain their footing.
Their once-sleek coats were now wet and dripping, steam rising from their heaving sides as they struggled against the growing storm.
