Homecoming

The door bell rang and I rushed to the door screaming my gut out to Leo to come down stairs so we won't be late for school and as I opened the door wondering who was there early morning to see it was Kate 'Hi, Stella,' 'Hey did we leave something yesterday at your place,' 'No it's just that Leo told me what happened with Mrs. Lambert and I came to say that I would love to babysit them while your out,' 'Thank you so much Kate but I really can't except that,' I replied back opening the door for her to come in 'No worries I have nothing better to do and I could drive them to school and back,' I was really happy by her offer but it was too much to ask though I was desperate in need of someone like her,' 'Kate that's too much to ask for me,' I said packing in their lunch and throwing Leo's books into it and Emma's crayons mistakenly. Kate came and took it out and placed to the proper bag as I took some toast and the egg on the stove and scrammed it into my back. 'Stella I'll do it please,' she said taking both my hands 'Ok thank you so much I'll to everything to repay you,' 'Just dinner at your place,' 'Deal,' I said over joyed and hugged her. She took both of them to her car as Leo came down and asked me whether I need a ride 'No it's fine I need to make a few stops saying so I also got out of the house just as they left. My backpack on one arm and a couple on papers on the other I ran to the bookshop to collect the poster that I've printed for homecoming.

I made to school just in time and ran straight to the meeting room not even catching my breath to see all the captains and presidents of clubs gathered. I settled down and handed out leaflets to each mentioning their duty done towards the homecoming dance. Until each came to sign up I almost forgot that Jayden was here as the football captain. 'Hey,' he said as he sat down to sign 'We are on decorating that's new,' 'Well that's the only thing they haven't failed at yet,' 'Food,' 'Ended up having cheese burgers and coke,' 'Entertainment,' 'Watched the last football game of the league,' 'Cleaning,' Jayden ask at least a bit hopeful 'The hall was covered with food from head to toe,' 'Got it,' and without further discussion he got up and left. All left the room to only me and as I was packing up my stuff as Tessa and Reagan came in 'Hello,' Tessa said coming and sitting down 'So homecoming,' she continued 'yeah I know and aren't you supposed to be like supervising the drama club Tess,' I said avoiding the topic after the fiasco of me telling no to a couple of guys 'Aren't you supposed to be supervising like everyone besides I'm the vice,' 'Well you better be coming to my house after school and taking away the puppy,' 'So you don't agree,' Reagan asked 'What were you guys thinking,' 'Well, come on Stella please let them have one,' 'If you give me one of your maids,' 'Oh yeah sure you can have Gabby,' I looked at here partially serious but couldn't hold back my laugh as she took me so serious 'Stella !,' 'Ok I'll think about it.' and we left the hall and went our own way. I was halfway done checking the clubs process when I came to check on the tickets that was sold by the cheerleaders squad when I heard them gossiping 'Jayden bought two tickets and I'm sure one is for you Chole,' Debbie said as I reached the table to talk to them. 'Can I get to know how much you've sold so far and how much is still left,' I asked them but they ignored me so I knocked on the desk and said 'I don't have all day ladies,' 'Ah like a couple thousand,' Debbie said finally 'Well I need the actual amount,' 'OH come on Stella can you not disturb us its really annoying,' 'Well you do come here to work and not gossip,' 'Well this is not gossip THIS IS BIG NEW,' 'What is,' 'That Jayden bought two tickets,' Chole shot at me 'Don't all the guys buy two tickets,' I said obviously and took the ticket book to see that only twenty tickets out of at least thousand was sold. 'You all are off duty,' I barked at them madly and stormed off partially mad at them but more mad at what I just heard. All of them had empty heads and now I was going to check on the other set of tin heads, the football team. For my utmost surprise when I reached the hall door it was well decorated and even inside half of the stuff was done and all of them were doing at least something. Jayden was hanging lights from the ceilings on a ladder that no one was holding so I kept my things beside his jacket that was kept on a chair with a box of lights and held on the ladder to make it steady. I was really impressed at least one set of tins heads actually could do something. 'Bro could you pass me that set of lights,' Jayden yelled not looking down the ladder, I took the string of twinkle light and asked 'Bro ?,' as he looked down. 'Oh hi sorry,' and he began to climb down the ladder 'Wait don't come down finish it, here,' I handed him the bulbs and he finished fixing them and came down. He handed me my stuff as he wore his jacket and walked towards the middle of the hall with me as I took a proper look around 'Nice huh ?,' 'Actually great at least one of the tin head groups did there job,' 'Why, what happened with the squad,' 'I gave them the tickets a week ago and only twenty are sold,' 'But the homecoming dance is this Saturday,' 'Day after tomorrow I know, I need to sell at least half of this,' 'So your not coming for tomorrows game,' 'Well at this rate not even tomorrow would be enough to sell this,' 'I'll help you,' Jayden said at once and dragged me out to the corridor where the table was set to sell tickets now open unlike before when the cheerleaders were hovering over it. 'Jayden what are you doing,' I asked him abruptly as I sat down next to him behind the table as he took out his phone. In a minute I got a notification and I checked to see that Jayden has posted in Instagram the ticket and underneath it written anything for a fan who buys more than three I looked at him and laughed 'This is your brilliant idea,' 'Why you don't trust me,' 'Well...,' I didn't get to finish my sentence when the hall started to crowd up in minutes. I mouthed a thank you and we sat there giving out the tickets the enter afternoon.

The school bell rang and only five tickets were left. 'Oh my god my hands are about to break,' 'Well at least we sold all,' 'But five are left,' Jayden said pointing at the last five 'Well I need two for Tessa and Reagan incase They don't have a date and the other three I can return them back or give them to a teacher,' 'What about me,' 'What about you,' I asked him as we started to walk out the corridor as it emptied 'What about my tickets,' 'Well everyone knows you bought tickets for you and Chole long before,' 'Who told you,' 'Everyone knows, you bought tickets last week,' 'No, I mean who told I'm going with Chole,' 'Well aren't you,' I asked confused 'NO,' I smiled to myself as we entered the parking lot. 'You need a ride,' I couldn't reply to him as Andrew a swimmer in the swim team came up to me with a couple of friends holding banner that says "will you go to the dance with me" and a flower bouquet in each of their hands 'Hey Stella,' 'Hi,' 'Well would you like to go to the homecoming dance with me,' I stood shocked in front of him without uttering a word as this was the fourth guy that asked me to prom using a grand gesture [one came with humongous balloons, one sang a song with a couple of his friends in a middle made of a heart made up with twinkle lights, and the other brought me boxes of chocolates and gift baskets] but soon replied back to him 'I'm so sorry Andrew but I'm not actually going to the dance,' he looked taken back 'Your not going to the dance or are you going to it with someone else,' he asked motioning at Jayden who stood next to me. I looked at Jayden and then back at Andrew 'Ah no no no I won't be coming,' and with that I got into Jayden's jeep and he drove.
