Trapped in Darkness

"First-ranking?" Sienna couldn't shake the ominous feeling creeping over her.

"Yeah!" Amanda wiped her tears, releasing Sienna from her embrace. "You must have heard about it, right?"

"What do you mean?" Sienna asked, now fully alarmed.

"He scored first in the exam!" Amanda almost exclaimed.

"He?" Sienna's mind struggled to process. "Who are you talking about?"

"My boyfriend!" Amanda declared loudly.

"Who's your boyfriend?!" Sienna gasped.

"Edward Milton, of course!" Amanda burst out.

Sienna was struck as if by a bolt of lightning, rendering her utterly speechless, her complexion paling as her mind went blank.

"Oh, Sienna, I'm so sorry," Amanda suddenly exclaimed, noticing her friend's dumbfounded expression. She felt a pang of guilt for not sharing this earlier, assuming Sienna might not be feeling well about this.
