Chapter 32: Meeting the wolf mercenary.

Suyin looked at Kai, "Because they are the only ones who can battle across multiple realms, and with their Heavenly Daos blessing, they are hard to kill because of the abundance of luck and fate surrounding them, moreover killing any one of them will accumulate karma to the killer's cultivation journey" she explained.

Kai made a thoughtful expression; he found answers to many of the doubts in his mind, for example after he killed Jinhai, he noticed a phenomenon in the sky, and also he felt something bind him, but he had no idea what it was, but now he guesses it might be karma.

"It doesn't matter, a step at a time; I will deal with every situation accordingly," he muttered to himself, then he shook his head and started drinking his wine, ignoring Suyin, which actually annoyed her, but she did not bother Kai.

After thirty minutes of enjoying his wine, Kai felt more refreshed; before standing up, he stretched his body, which made a cracking sound that echoed throughout the cave.

"what's your plan now," Kai asked the dazed Suyin

"I... I don't know," she stammered.

"let me ask you, how did you and Jinhai come across each other? And why is Jinhai in the outside world when their world is hidden from the world?" Kai asked

"huh, thought you were never gonna ask."

"Well, I never want to, but I felt like I should claim some trophy with my effort. Moreover, you promised me something when you ran toward me for help," Kai replied with a mischievous smile.

"I don't know what Jinhai is doing in the outside world, but I came across him on the second level because I found a map that might lead to a heaven-shaking treasure location, but I came across Jinhai, and when he saw the map in my hand he immediately knew it's value, that's how the pursuit started" Suyin replied.

Kai made a thoughtful expression before nodding his head, then he turned around and started walking toward the cave exit.

"wait," Suyin quickly walked in front of Kai.

"Suyin, starting from now, we both had nothing to do with each other; we haven't met before, nor do you know who I am; I hope you understand why I'm doing this," Kai explained calmly.

Kai knew he had to do this because he felt pity for Suyin as they both are similar; they were weak and struggling to survive; he knew the Jin clan wouldn't let him rest; moreover, he already had a lot of enemies trying to take his life, and not to endanger Suyin life he needs to make things clear to her immediately.

Suyin nodded to Kai, she understood that Kai was trying to protect her from the coming danger and appreciated it, but in her heart, she already viewed Kai as family.

Tears dropped from her eyes, and a map made of beast skin appeared in her hand, "here, take it," she said.

Kai looked at her with a questioning look.

Suyin shook her head, "I can't keep this, this treasure might be my fortune encounter, but I'm not fated for it, and there is a difference between having a treasure and keeping it," she stated.

Kai looked at her for a while, then he took the map from her and kept it before walking away, "We shall see again if fate allows it," he said, and his voice echoed through the cave while he was gone.

Suyin smiled emotionally after hearing Kai's voice; she prepared herself before walking out of the cave and heading directly out of the purgatory land.

Three days later, Kai arrived in front of the barrier separating the third and second layers; he sighed in relief because the past three days had not been easy for him.

He encountered a lot of powerful wing devil groups along the way, and he was left with no choice but to fight, and also, many shadowthorn devils had been trying to assassinate him along the way, so he had to be on guard every second.

Moreover, there is not much hiding place in the purgatory land as it's only filled with plain dark land and multiple huge mountains that span for miles.

Kai started walking closer to the barrier; however, the moment he was only a meter away from the barrier, he caught sight of a group of people he least expected to see, and immediately a vast killing intent emerged from his heart.

"0hhh, look who is here," Wolf Fang stated in his deep voice.

Everyone in the group turned to Kai's direction and immediately prepared their weapons.

"I'm amazed to see you here, but it doesn't matter; that will save me some trouble of searching for you?" Kai said, and immediately his saber appeared in his hand; however, there were multiple cracks on his saber now.

"How dare you be arrogant to our boss," the lady standing beside Wolf Fang yelled at Kai.

"Arrogant?" Kai asked in a stunned tone before he sneered and looked at everyone within the group one by one with ridiculed eyes.

Kai couldn't find anything special about the group since none of them was an immortal king or supreme, so he didn't see them as a threat even with their number advantage except for Wolf Fang, who was in the peak mid-immortal stage.

Although Kai was stronger now, he knew fighting someone as strong as Wolf-Fang would be just as problematic as fighting Jinhai, but he wasn't scared; if they aimed for his life, he had no problem taking their life.

"Brat, I don't have time to waste with you; I can spare your life if you hand over every treasure on you, cut your own tongue and your right hand," Wolf Fang stated arrogantly.

"Boss is boss always showing mercy; if it were me, I would have asked him to cut off his two legs along with it." Someone among the group exclaimed.

"Brat, you should kowtow to the boss for showing mercy," another person scolded Kai.
