4. best shot

The weeks left ended. Esther had go to school. Boarding, something she never thought to be there.

Now there she was with her suitcase and box. The school wasn't awkward but the poeple were. It was a single sex school. She didn't like crowds. She knew she had to manage and also tolerate the big girls and everything else.

Esther saw other girls crying in front of their parents. She only cried within and never showed it. That was her, always comporting herself.

Saying goodbye was easy plus all the things she had got. She never was going to miss anybody. Even if she will miss, it will be the place.

When she opened her eyes, Esther was back home. She has suffered. Those big girls and their stupid rules. That wasn't even what was on her mind. She had books to study, novels to write and chores to do.

There was no time for online and chitchatting. Only her books mattered at that instant.

Life, she knew hadn't been fair to her. The wrong person, wrong child, wrong first born, wrong personality.

Nothing worked or went according to her favor.

Was she even lucky?

Yes, luck was a bit on her side. She never experienced any of the trauma the other girls in her house went through. She never got punished by her house mistress.

And she was grateful to the Almighty for keeping her safe.

Except that none of the teachers noticed her works.

It hurts!

Really hurts!

Before coming home, she made a rule that no matter the situation or the outcome of it, she was never going to back away. Even if it was never in her favor. She got to aim high.

Studying firmly was her aim.

Her best and only best shots were about to leak. None of those grades back in Junior High were going to be repeated.

Those awful traits back in Junior High were going to be no more.

New chapters and not a chapter were going to be written.

Only her. Her rules, her way.

One thing Esther never thought about was that she was going to be in her final year.

The plans were great. Her novels were awesome. Her works were improvement.

In most cases, her teachers loved her. Her mate's adored her. Not knowing, the day of agony was near.

Her time became more stressful. No eatings and sleepings. There was no time for those things. Even if she would sleep, it would be only three hours.

Was she a billionaire?

Why then did she spend only three hours to sleep? She warned herself to desist from that act.

The final exams, everyone knew wasn't easy. The invigilation, police and even her own mate's as well. Anytime she raised up her head, she would hear a colleague calling up to her. That wasn't what she had in mind.

Don't heed to anybody's call until you're done with yours.

That was another rule.

She went by that rule till everything was completed.

***Esther's mum hugged her tightly right after getting out of the taxi that brought her home. The other tenants also welcomed her. Some even prayed for good grades for the exams.

Her best shot. That was on her mind till the results came out.

She couldn't check it out herself as fear gripped her. It was her mother who checked it.

"Honey, you got six A1s!" Her mother shoutes from the living room. She runs from the bedroom to the living room.

"What, how's that possible?" She asked without thinking about it.

"What, aren't you happy?" Her mum asked her. To her, that was the best grade ever.

"I am. I was expecting seven aor evn eight." She lied. She was very happy within.

Esther never thought these grades were going to ever come her way. She knew she would pass. But A1 never crossed her mind.

What she told her mother, she only wanted her to know that she wasn't a brainer.

"You got two B2s as well." Her mum pronounced the next grades.

"I'm very proud of you. You have done very well." Her mother couldn't stop praising her. The whole compound house heard it. She even took the results to her workplace. .

Then Esther's father, he was more than happy. He sent her an apple iphone and a thousand cedis note for her to purchase whatever she wants.

Esther couldn't stop exclaiming. All her followers on social media and readers on Webnovel heard of the good news. She was very happy.

"We're going to university next year!" Her mother shouted from the kitchen. Esther had headphones on, she still heard her mum.

Her best shot! That was what she called it.

this is only the beginning, the real story begins from Uni
