Broken Trust
Shawn POV
I had to act fast else I'll be roasted alive. The man was probably holding a grenade. The light had been switched off and I wondered how they found the switch. Someone was definitely working for them, someone who was working with us and I suspected Erastus.
Stooping low, I moved out of there and killed anyone who came in my way. The man holding the grenade didn't notice because it was dark and the gun was a silencer.
I pointed the gun at the man who was holding the grenade and shot him twice, he threw the grenade at me. It was then I realized my mistake. I dodged and landed with a thud on the floor. It exploded and the heat was too much even the noise. It killed some people in the process. My Jeep worth millions of dollars was also burnt in the process. I was infuriated.
I heard someone scream and my heart skipped a beat or two. I ran in the direction and I saw Erastus struggling with a man. I shot the man dead then I ran to meet Erastus. A bullet had penetrated his shoulder and he was seriously bleeding. I took off my shirt and wrapped it around his arm to at least stop the bleeding to an extent.
"You should go to the underground house, "I advised but he shook his head.
"No way." He continued, "you can't fight them alone."
"I need you to be alive, I've already lost the gateman I can't afford to lose you," I said and he sighed.
"You don't need to worry, I'll be fine." He replied and I held him by the wrist.
"What will I tell your family members if you go? I've got my hands full already" I asked and he sighed.
"No one cares about me, they all deserted me so I don't think they'll miss me if I die."
He was obstinate so I let him be. I went towards the pool and I couldn't see anybody. Everywhere was dark. I felt a metal-like object on my head and I froze.
"Party over boy," A man said coldly.
Julia POV
"Mrs. Porshia," I called, shocked.
I closed my eyes and rubbed it vigorously then I opened it. I thought it was my eyes that were playing pranks on me.
"Uhm..." She stuttered. " I... I can ex... explain."
"Explain what?" I asked gobsmacked. "That you are one of the people who are after my life? I trusted you, I shared my deepest secret with you, I told you that which I had never told anyone, yet see how you betrayed my trust." I said and sat on the bed, sobbing."
"I'm s.. sorry baby,"
"Don't baby me," I said curtly.
"I needed money, I was broke. I had to do it because I was promised a huge sum of money."
I used a handkerchief to blow my catarrh.
"You betrayed me for how much?" I asked.
"Fifty thousand dollars." She said and I was shocked.
"Just because of fifty thousand dollars? How could you do such a thing?"
"Remember I told you that I did it because I was broke. Come to think of it, have you ever remembered me since you left the house? You didn't even visit me talk less of giving me money. Here you are in this mansion enjoying monies, yet you didn't remember me. Well, for your information, I don't regret ever doing this, I don't. It would serve as a lesson for you in the afterlife."
"Do you think I have any savings? Did you know how I'm coping in this house? Yet you open your filthy mouth to say such, whereas, if you had asked, I would've done something."
"I now look like a beggar, right?" She asked through clenched teeth. "Whereas, that guy you're falling in love with is not what you think he is. He's a badass, a very wicked soul. I know you won't believe it because you have foolishly fallen in love with him."
"I don't give a sh*t about what you say, all I know is that he's a good person," I said trying to justify Shawn. She was about to say something when her phone rang.
"Hello... Ok, sir." She said and dropped the call.
"See you later in hell," she said as she pulled the trigger
Shawn POV
I remained motionless as I stood still.
"Your gun on the ground and stand slowly." the man ordered. Having no other option, I did as he commanded.
Suddenly, he fell and I was surprised.
Who shot him?
Someone ran towards me and I was shocked. What was mom doing out here?
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed as she hugged me. "That was close. I thought you were dead."
"Mom, what are you doing out here?" I whispered. "I thought I told you that no one should step out because it's dangerous out here."
"Sorry dear, but I had no other option. Whereas Mia is there. She'll take care of the kids."
"How about Julia?" I asked curiously.
"She left long before I did."
"What!" I exclaimed, "but I haven't set my eyes on her. Where did she go to?"
"I can't say." She replied and sighed.
"I... I thought she couldn't operate a gun."
"Well, she took the gun from me and went out to help you. She even called me a coward, that's why I'm out here because I'm not one."
"This lady is something else," I muttered under my breath as I itched my hair.
"She might be in trouble, we need to find her. Take the other path while I'll take this path." I said to mom.
"Stay safe." She said as we both part ways.

I heard voices in Julia's room so I put my ear on the door to eavesdrop. I heard a woman's voice. Julia was crying while the woman was saying harsh words. The last words she said struck me.
'see you later in hell.'
I opened the door quickly and shot the woman twice. Before she died she said something that struck me,
"Remember what I told you, Julia, he's a badass."
Julia was sobbing, she didn't even move. What did the woman tell Julia? I took a torchlight and I pointed it at the dead woman. She looked familiar but I couldn't remember where I had seen her.
"We've got to get the hell out of here," I whispered to Julia and we both left the room.
1st Unknown POV
"They've killed most of us," I said whispering into the phone. "I did as you said but it didn't go on well... The children are here with me, should I get rid of them?... O... Okay... Yes sir." I sighed as I dropped the call.
I've got to stick to them for a couple of days. I'll make sure my next move will be swift and well planned. This time, I wouldn't think of failing. For this plan of mine to work, I've got to be closer to either Shawn or Julia.
