Once Shera had her fill, he stopped feeding her and started bugging Carlos, who had gone to the lab, to run tests on her again. He wanted to make sure she was really fine.
The woman couldn't help laughing at his dramatics. "I was only in a coma for two weeks yet you are acting this way. What would you have done if it was two months or two years?"
He jolted almost out of his skin. "You are not allowed to say such things." If she really stayed unconscious for that long, what made her think she would find him alive?
She'd had enough fun messing with him, but she kept staring at him as he clung to her hand like a little child afraid that his mother would leave. She laughed and dragged her hand upwards, trailing her fingers along his face. "I'm not leaving, okay?"
He was shocked by her words and even more shocked by the gentleness of her voice. Was that meant to be a reassurance? He locked their hands together, even more reluctant to let go.
