Still, Taotie and Xinzhui waited at the periphery—with Xinzhui standing right outside the city gates while Taotie stood at the center of the previous battle. The two stayed silent, but while Xinzhui sat cross-legged in meditation, Taotie stayed in a trance, staring into the horizon.
Taotie was confused. Initially, Huan Yi had set her up to be the one to take down Hundun—and even directed her cultivation towards that goal. So why did he go ahead and do it himself? And if the Throne of Samsara was that important, why not kill Qiongqi first?
Was it fear? Did Huan Yi already know about the Clock being in Hundun's hands? Unlikely. So did he find or achieve something that made Huan Yi resolved to kill him as soon as possible? Or was it just out of convenience?
