Chapter 36 - Friends Day Out (Part 02)

Vicky dodged Daemon's attack, and blocked Manic's. Daemon attacked Vicky again. Vicky pushed Manic back, and blocked Daemon's attack. She threw her boomerang at Manic, who dodged it.

"A boomerang?" Manic asked, as Vicky caught the boomerang that was returning to her. Vicky smirked and threw the boomerang at Manic again, and charged towards him.

Manic dodged the boomerang again, and then defended himself from Vicky's attacks. Daemon attacked Vicky from behind, who rolled to the side, causing his attacks to miss Vicky and fall on Manic. Manic blocked the attack. Daemon and Manic turned to Vicky, and attacked her.

The trio were fighting for a while. Vicky was having trouble defending herself from both Manic and Daemon. She threw her boomerang, and Daemon attacked it, taking it out of it arc, causing it to fall to the ground.

"Give up," Manic said.

"I never give up," Vicky replied, holding her sword. Daemon disarmed Vicky, and held his sword to her neck.

"How about now?" Manic asked.

"You can't stay out of trouble, can you?" the captain asked through Vicky's earpiece.

"Never," Vicky replied, she saw her car driving towards them.

A few moments earlier, the captain was washing Vicky's car when he got a phone call. The captain answered his phone.

"Max. I just found out that Vicky is Connor's daughter," Miles said, as soon as the captain answered the phone.

"Yep. Figured that one out," the captain replied, turning off the hose.

"There's more news. Sarah was logged into the game; she was checking for leads on Manic. He's currently attacking Vicky. I think she might need help," Miles said.

"She can never stay away from getting into trouble," the captain said.

"Reminds me of someone," Miles replied.

"I'm at my place. I'll have to get into the basement and use the pod I put down there. It might take some time," the captain said.

"Hurry up. I don't think she can hold them off for long," Miles said.

"I'll come as fast as I can," the captain said. He went to the basement of the house, and uncovered a pod. He plugged it to the power outlet in the basement. The pod lit up. The captain stepped into it, and entered the game world.

"What took you so long?" Miles asked. He had already logged into the game.

"Where are they?" the captain asked.

"I'll mark the location on your map. You guys should probably get going," Sarah said, walking into the room with her gauntlet open. She was watching the fight through her gauntlet.

"Aren't your coming?" Miles asked.

"I'll control the drone from here," Sarah said. The captain nodded his head to Sarah, and left the house. Vicky's car was parked outside. The captain got into the driver's seat, with Miles in the front passenger seat. They raced to Vicky's location.

When they arrived at the location, Daemon had his sword to Vicky's neck.

"Get ready," the captain said looking at Miles.

"I'm always ready," Miles replied.

The captain drifted the car to a halt. Miles opened the window, and started shooting. Manic and Daemon ran to cover. Miles got out of the car, while shooting. Vicky ran to the car, and got into the back seat. Miles got back into the car, and the captain drove off.

"Aren't we going to follow them?" Daemon asked.

"No. Let's get out of here," Manic replied.

Back in the car, everything was quiet. Nobody was saying anything.

"Could you at least, not get captured by Manic?" the captain asked.

"I didn't get captured," Vicky argued.

"Yeah. You would have if we hadn't rescued you," the captain argued back.

"Thank you. Happy?" Vicky asked. The captain looked at Miles, who nodded his head sideways.

"Don't get into a tight spot like that again," the captain said, trying to calm things down.

"I need to check on Crystal and Dia," Vicky said, and pressed the button on her earpiece and said "You guys good?"

"Yeah! How about you?" Mia asked, through Vicky's earpiece.

"Good. We got to one of the clubs," Mia said.

"Mark it on the map. We'll get there," Vicky said.

"We?" Mia asked.

"Yes. You'll see," Vicky replied, and continued "I'm out."

Vicky pressed the button on her earpiece again, to cut the mic off.

"Are they alright?" the captain asked.

"Yeah. Crystal sent me their location," Vicky replied.

"And you want us to go there," the captain said.

"Look at that. Max taking orders from a kid," Miles said, with a smile. The captain looked at Miles, and back at the road.

They arrived at a club, with security standing outside. The captain parked the car.

"We can't go in there," Vicky said, as the captain and Miles tried to get out of the car.

"What? Why?" Miles asked.

"Look at you two. You're dressed like soldiers. They're never going to let you guys through," Vicky replied.

"What are we supposed to wear then?" Miles asked.

"Anything besides that," Vicky replied. She leaned towards the front, and said "Open your gauntlets."

Mia noticed the car, from inside the club, and walked towards it. She knocked on the shutter of the car.

"Hey," Mia said, as the captain opened the shutter, and continued "You guys aren't going to be able to get in there dressed like that."

"That's what I told them too," Vicky said, she took them to the online clothes shop.

"No. We are going old school on this one. We are going shopping," Mia said.

"Did someone say shopping?" Rachel asked through the earpiece.

"Oh no," Vicky mumbled.

"Now look at what you did," the captain said looking at Vicky.

Rachel and Mia took the captain, Miles and Vicky to the clothes shop. They were all inside one large mall.

"Now we find clothes that match you guys," Rachel said excitedly.

"This is going to take ages," Vicky said slumping down on a bench inside the mall.

"Come one Icicle. We can get you some new stuff too," Rachel said dragging Vicky into one of the shops.

After buying new clothes, they came out of the store. Vicky had found a new jacket with a hoodie, that had a blue lining. She had a full blue mask, and new holsters for her pistols.

Mia bought a new hat for her, and Rachel bought a new shiny, pink jacket.

The captain had a black, unzipped, leather, biker jacket, with a white t-shirt inside, and black trousers. He had a hip holster to carry his pistols.

Miles had a black, denim, hooded jacket, with a black t-shirt and denim trousers.

When they arrived at the club, it was night, and the lights at the club were dazzling, with advertisements on walls outside the club.

"There's a large queue to stand in," Rachel complained, looking at the long line of clubbers.

"Good thing Icicle's here," Mia said.

"No. We're are not doing that again," Vicky said.

"We'll have to stand there for over an hour, if a patrol car comes this way, we're done," Mia said. Vicky turned to Mia.

"You won last time. You got this," Rachel said.

"Plus we could use the money we earn from it too," Mia said.

"What do you want her to do?" the captain asked.

"There's a mini game. If you win, you don't need to stand in the queue," Rachel said.

"What mini game?" the captain asked.

"It's a full on fight. No powers, everyone gets a blaster. Last man standing wins," Miles replied.

"And how do you know this?" the captain asked.

"I've seen it before," Miles replied. The captain turned to Vicky, raising his eyebrows.

"Icicle's fought before in the mini game. She'll be fine," Mia said.

"Why can't someone else go?" the captain asked.

"Because, someone else is a soldier, not a gamer," Vicky replied.

"It's the same thing," the captain said.

"No. You need to have precise hand and eye coordination," Vicky said. The captain stared at Vicky.

"Just be safe," the captain said.

"It's just a game, right?" Vicky said walking to the entrance of the club.
