Chapter 4: Lunar Alpha

Alexandra

I keep walking towards him because his pearly tears weigh heavily on me. Sitting on my knees in front of him, I spread my hand and touch his head, making him startle. He lifts his head to see. Surprisingly, the hatred I saw in his eyes for me is gone. It feels like the heavy mountain is lifted from my heart.

"Why did you kill her, Alexandra? She was my everything. Now how will I survive?" I fail to produce any answer to his questions. I keep stroking his head to solace him.

"Why don't you answer my question?"

"I-I really don't know her."

"No!" He roars in anger and grabs me by the throat, choking me.

"You are lying! You killed her!" "It's h-hurting." I try to free myself from his grip, but he just keeps choking me.

"Someone please help me. Help me." I can barely produce any sound. Tears drip from my eyes because of a shortage of oxygen.

Someone sprinkles water on my face, and I open my eyes instantly. Thank Almighty it is just a nightmare. I keep touching my throat and breathe finally.

"Are you okay, sweetie?" Matriarch Cassandra asks me. I shake my head and sit up from my lying state instantly.

"Yes, yes, I am okay." I try to hide the fear on my face, but the fear is still fresh inside me. She pulls my hand towards her and strokes my head affectionately.

"You are still afraid of him?" As she asks, I look at her in surprise, not knowing what to say to her. There are lots of questions bothering me. The pathetic part is I am still not in my real world. Can she answer my question? Can she help me to turn back to my world?

"You shouldn't be afraid of him."

"What?!" My eyes get bigger in shock listening to her.

"He literally tried to kill me, and I know he will find a way to kill me somehow."

She places her finger on my lips. "No, he can't."

I hold her hand immediately. "Mam, I know I am dreaming. Please help me wake up? I want to go back to my real world. Please send me there? I want to go back to my family." All she does is laugh after listening to my request.

"You are not dreaming, Alexandra. You are here for real."

"What?!" Her reply shocks me like there's no ground left for me.

"What are you saying, mam?" She chuckles listening to me.

"Call me Granny, not mam."

"Granny! You are younger than me." All I receive is her windshield laughter.

"Can you guess my age?"

"Umm... Twenty-five?" I am so bad at guessing things, but she is so tender to call her granny.

"I am a hundred years old."

"Oh my goodness!"

After reaching here, so many strange stories are happening to me. I don't know how a hundred-year-old woman can look so young but she is the Matriarch here; why would she lie to me?

"I know there are lots of questions in your mind. Don't worry, you will come to know everything at the right moment."

"I am so confused." She smiles at me.

"Now freshen up yourself; we are going to welcome a very important guest. Rosalie will help you to get ready."

Saying this, she immediately leaves the room. There is no one here to help me but her, so I don't dare to disobey her. After walking to the washroom, I start to freshen up myself. Miraculously, the wounds on my face and neck are gone. Now no one can say I got beaten by a wolf severely. When I enter the room, someone knocks on the door.

"Come inside." As I speak, Rosalie enters the room with some stuff in her hands.

"Miss Alexandra, I am here for your assistance."

"Oh, Rosalie... Come here; by the way, how old are you?" As I ask, she looks at me. "I am eighteen years old."

"We are the same age, so call me Alexandra." She seems confused, so I hold her hand to assure her.

"Don't worry; I would prefer friendship than formality." She smiles listening to me and nods her head.

One by one, Rosalie shows me the dress and accessories I am going to wear tonight. My eyes become big seeing the fluffy red gown.

"But how will I carry it? I may trip wearing it." "Trust me, Alexandra, nothing will happen." "Okay then, and I have no other way though." We chuckle together. She helps me wear my clothes and accessories one by one and then finally gives makeup and a hairstyle. After seeing my reflection in the mirror, my eyes get deceived.

"Come on, I am not that beautiful. Why do I look so pretty, Rosalie?"

"You are so pretty, Alexandra."

"As you're insisting, thanks." The silvery glow of the makeup and wavy hairstyle along with red lipstick are more like proving that I am not a human alone but a wolf is living inside me.

"Let's go, Alexandra. Matriarch Cassandra is waiting for you."

"Yeah, let's go."

Descending the stairs carefully, we start searching for the Matriarch. The hall is full of guests but the pretty lady is shining like a star in the crowd. Overcoming the crowd, we walk near her.

"Oh, my sweetheart is looking so pretty now." We show her respect immediately as she walks near us. She holds my hands and looks at Rosalie.

"I am so proud of you, Rosalie."

"Thank you so much, your Highness." Rosalie says in satisfaction.

Matriarch Cassandra affectionately places a soft kiss on my forehead, filling my heart with joy. I look at her with utmost respect. I want to give her a tight hug, but my timid self can't afford the courage to do so.

Holding my hand, she walks to the center of the hall. Everyone's eyes get fixed on us.

"My dear pack members and members of other clans, I have a big announcement today." Excitement and curiosity start dripping from their eyes as they fix their full attention on us.

"Meet the future Lunar Alpha of the Red Moon Coalition! Alexandra Rossetti will take my responsibility after me!"
