It was noon on Saturday when Ken drove to our compound. I wondered why aunty Sandra was at home since morning but remembered it was the day Ken promised to take us out. It's not always good to drive to a conclusion about someone just because of what happened in a day. It may be their best day or even their worst day. It might not be the best, maybe they just spent the day being themselves. Or opportunity played a great role in their lives that day.
Ken dressed in jean trousers and such a wonderful blazer while wearing a white canvas. Though I never liked Ken if I have the opportunity, I'll confess that he looks good in that dress. He even put on eyes glasses and finally decorated his face with a smile. His necklace was glittering. I know not the one to look at. The only notable difference between him and the people that do act 'drug lords' in movies is just that he put on a smile on his face and smiling is among the least thing those drug lords could do.
... Hey Jessy. What are you still waiting for? I told you that we're going out today. Where's Sandra?
Ken questioned me as he caught me peeping from the small corridor in front of our house.
Good afternoon Uncle Ken. You look good.
Good afternoon Jessy. Thanks for the compliment. Where's Sandra?
She's inside the house.
I'm coming just finished taking my bath. Let me put on something and meet you.
Sandra screamed from inside the house. I and Ken then went inside the pallor. As he was no more an ordinary visitor, he just went to the fridge and served himself water. I then went and freshened up. I then dressed in jean trousers, Body fitting polo top, and my white canvas. I never knew aunty Sandra could be this beautiful. She dressed better than she used to. We got into Ken's Lexus and then drove out of the compound. I couldn't comprehend whether that was Ken's own because, how could he be of that class and still spends the night in a woman's house? Or is he married without letting my aunt know? Ken and Sandra started chitchatting just as I expected. I was like abandoned in the backseat. Though I was just observing Ken and slightly interested in their discussion.
I kept wondering what the day might be like. As they both dressed like princes and princesses, what may ensue if we finally arrive at the cinema? 'Then you'll still be alone' I whispered to myself.
I didn't even know when I fell asleep.
In a few minutes, we arrived at the place where people do register sim cards. Aunty Sandra woke me up and followed me into their office. It didn't take long before we finished the sim registration.
I didn't even know she came with my phone. She brought out the phone from her purse and insert the sim inside the phone. Behold the sim was already working. We then went back and meet Ken in the Car.
...Bro your own is different sir. You're just like a politician How can you experience hardship like me who's just a businessman?.....
That was Ken speaking to someone via phone call. We quietly entered the car not to hinder their discussion. He didn't even mind our presence but continued with the conversation.
There's no difference. Just for you to agree. .....
Well, I'm still planning. But it won't take long. I need to marry and have my own family. Be saving money for your brother.
Okay bye..... He hung up
Sandra, are you done?
Yeah, we're done. Sandra replied to Ken who got very elated after making the phone call.
So now is my turn to drive to wherever I please. Ken jokingly asked
Mister man, not wherever you please. Rather where we'll have the fun we want. Jessy, am I not saying your mind?
Sandra asked me while I was still trying to operate my new phone
.... Why not aunty. You're saying my mind.
Is just like they've been waiting for me to talk. We all started rolling in the aisles. Now quite long we arrived at a place where there were many cars packed in lines. I could see people walking in and out of the building. Both young and old people.
Aunt where are we? I needed to ask so I won't be confused as I am.
Here's the cinema. It's always full of fun.
Wow!! That's good. We both got out of the car and Sandra took the lead. She was holding my hand like a small baby. I had no choice but to follow her.
She, first of all, took me to where they do sell popcorn and drinks. We bought some drinks and popcorn then we headed to the cinema itself.
Jessy, be mature, please. Don't fall my hand ooh
Sandra said sarcastically to me.
I knew she meant what she said but didn't intend to make me angry
I won't fall your hand aunty. I'll try my best.
She hugged me
