Chapter LIV - Daily Life (part 1)

The first bell rang and woke me up.

It's really funny how I can wake myself up in the morning with some sort of 'alarm' now. Back then, even with ten alarms set on my phone for every five minutes, I still couldn't wake up.

In the end, I will still have to rely on either my mom or my sister to wake me up. My dad is the same as me, but he doesn't have to go to school at 6.30.

Having a little flashback to the past struck an arrow to the chest. I really wanted to go back home, but I have to figure out how I can regain my old body, then probably find a way home.

And… somehow kick any evil god or goddess in the ass beforehand.

I woke up and got cleaned up. Yesterday was quite tiring, since I actually went all out.

I can see the effects on my adventurer's set. Some parts of the upper clothes got burned, while another got sliced open.

I don't have time to sew these, so I just threw them out the trash and bought a new one later. I'm quite rich, after all.

Even though I have a ton of money, it's still not enough to buy a house. This much money can give you an office, though. But what's an office do for me?

After bathing, I simply cleaned up the room and got prepared before heading out.

Today is the second day of this week's healing act, after all.

Great! Can't wait to heal people.

And after that, there's supposed to be this meeting. I'm not going to pretend like I know what a terrible meeting is, but I have been a member of the student council for two years, I could at least see what a terrible meeting is like.

I headed out for the church once everything was cleaned up. The mornings of Mazino are really lively, and I actually quite like that.

I visited the market for a little bit before heading to the church. I looked around to see what kind of things people were selling in the morning.

And just as I had guessed, most of them sell raw fresh food, such as fish and vegetables.

It's quite weird how they were able to sell vegetables in the middle of the summer. I'm guessing with the help of magic.

"It's with the help of magic!!"

An old man answered when I asked. He owns the shop quite to the middle, so I'm guessing he didn't have many buyers. And the fact that most of his items weren't really bought out yet strengthens my guess.

"I see. Thanks, old man."

I dropped a pouch full of coins, somewhere around fifty Jules. The old man checked the pouch and was going to thank me, but I already walked away.

All the other shops are quite the same. I recalled Urek's shop is somewhere on the right, so I walked there. What I saw was the view I had never guessed.

Nothing's wrong. Urek's shop is right there. The shop is still standing, and the family is doing fine.

But, what I was wondering is where all the vegetables had gone.

There are only a few vegetables left on the boxes. I was about to guess that the knights from before took away their stuff again, but their faces are quite happy.

They were closing up. I decided to approach them since no one was buying anyways.

"Good morning, Mister Urek."

Urek quickly turned around and saw me.

"Ah! Rize!"

He signalled to his family that he wanted to speak to me for a second, so they have to clean up without him. His wife nodded and told his kids to continue cleaning up.

Urek led me a little bit away from the shop.

"How is your shop doing?"

I asked him since I wanted to know how his shop is doing. And if it's not doing well, I would totally help him out. I could never forget my debt to him for taking me in from being homeless.

"Everything is going great! Thanks to a special magic, our vegetables are fresher than all the other shops. And now, people are buying mostly from our shop!"

"Oh... That's why your shop is nearly empty."

"Yes. What you see there are leftovers. Previously we had boxes of them, and now the boxes are empty. Looks like I got quite the fortune!"

"That's great! Good for you, Mister Urek."

He turned to me and stopped his walk. We arrived outside of the market, at the main road.

"And how is it going for you, Rize? Have you become a 'great' fighter adventurer yet?"

He did this move where he punches the air when he says fighter, while I simply chuckled.

"Well, you could say that. But, not everything is going quite well."

He looked at me when I said that, and he knew that I didn't want to talk about it. So he just chuckled and looked at the road.

"Being an adventurer, Rize... is a very dangerous line of work. People can actually get hurt or die working like that."

He looked towards the gate at the end of the main road, where knights were doing checks on carriages that were about to leave the kingdom.

"At least being a knight is much safer. I don't understand why you suddenly became an adventurer instead."

"And become one of the corrupt knights that nearly hurt your daughter? Please…"

"Haha! Yeah, you're right."

We both looked at the market again. There are no corrupt knights that have come and wreaked havoc anymore since that day. I guess the market has finally found peace for the time being.

Urek lets out a sigh and turns back.

"Well, I have to clean up. My family is heading back to the village, you see."

"Don't you get time to rest at home?"

"That village IS our home. Farewell, Rize!"

After saying that, he turned left and blended into the crowd. I simply smiled and continued my path to the church.

A simple talk with someone I know actually made me feel better.

Arriving at the church, everyone greeted me, and the healing act began almost right away.

Today's healing act went even quicker than the days before. Probably because there are less people to heal today. There's no wounded adventurers coming here anymore, so I guess my mission is complete.

The act took only two hours to complete, so everything seemed quick. As usual, the duo of Rize and Khel healed nearly 85% of all the people coming. The news about the return of the Saint Healer had spread even further thanks to the press.

The reporters couldn't get into the church, so they questioned the people getting healed instead.

The news about it had spread even to the other kingdoms. I had to expect that there will be even more outsiders on the next healing act.

Aside from that, I also gave a suggestion to the elder nun, to make some sort of umbrella for the people waiting outside.

The event from weeks before shows that at noon, the sun is extremely hot. It might even kill the patients before we can even heal them. Hence, I forwarded my idea to the elder nun.

The elder nun will talk about it with the other nuns and priests and most likely will implement it the week after. I nodded at her as a thanks and left the church.

Today was quite fast. Only around two hours until the second bell, so I should grab a meal.

I wonder how the others are doing.

They all went for a mission yesterday without me. I'm sure they are doing fine.

I entered the familiar restaurant and walked straight to the counter. The person I wanted to see is right there, serving a customer. He wrote the stuff the customer orders on a piece of paper and put the paper on the back, so that his mother could see.

Hod saw me when the customer left the counter. He waved his hand to me before turning away to serve another customer.

What the heck, just focus on your job.

Once the customer in front of me got his order in place, I moved up.

"Well, hello there, customer. What can I get for you?"

His tone of speaking is really pissing me off, but two can play that game.

"Hmm, let's see. I wished for... The great Hod to serve me the best chicken menu they had."

He chuckled and wrote it on the paper.

"Sit over there, I'll come sit with you."

He pointed at the nearest table from the counter. So, I sat there and waited for the meal.

And... I forgot to order the drink.

"Hey, eh, ice tea?"

"Sure."

"Can you use genuine ice instead of your ice magic--"

"Yea, yea."

Hod sounded so annoyed when I said that, and I just chuckled.

I turned to my table and took out my magic tool that can count magic energy. I checked it out and the outcome is quite normal. So I stored it back and was relieved.

I'm really wondering what kind of meeting later will be. I dozed off for like a few minutes until Hod suddenly appeared at the seat in front of me.
