Chapter eighteen

After the girls talked for more than two hours, they slept.

While Fabian was lying on his bed thinking, Justin was pressing his phone and Collins was sleeping.

" wetin you dey think? ( what are you thinking) " Justin asked whispered.

" nothing " Fabian replied then turned to the other side avoiding looking at Justin's face. Justin sighed before going bake to what he was doing.

" I forgot to ask, did you give Amanda the money? " Justin asked still pressing his phone.

" nope. She said I should take care of it by myself. I should spend it wisely because yahoo money don't last long. So I should only buy things that are seriously needed " Fabian replied.

" she really knows how to spend money " Justin smiled.

Fabian's flashback

He was standing with Amanda. Here Amanda is five years old and Fabian was six years old. They were walking home together after school when Fabian asked something.

" Amy, um... ah... " Fabian could not know how he was gonna ask the question. He then became silent.

" what is it? " Amanda asked confused.

" when are you planning on having a boyfriend? " he rushed it like as if something hot was inside his mouth.

" well I want to have a boyfriend, when I'm nineteen " Amanda replied.

" oh "

" wait why are you asking? " she yelled crossing her hands.

" I just want to know if you're gonna have a boyfriend early " he yelled back.

end of flashback

" just two years. I can wait" he said to himself before closing his eyes.

next day in Amanda's department

" actresses and actors, on Saturday is the show. So I need you all to practice hard" the lecturer ( male lecturer) said. He started looking round, looking for something or someone. " where's my Romeo and Juliet? " he yelled.

" Juliet is here " Amanda rushed out.

" and Romeo is here " Jacob rushed out.

" why are you two coming out the same time and from the same direction? " the lecturer said pointing left and right at their two.

" oh. I was fixing his cap for him " Amanda explained.

" yeah... " Jacob was cut off by the lecturer.

" I don't want to hear anything anymore. I already heard Amanda's own, she got straight to the point. So don't tell me anything " the lecturer said picking his mick. " start " he yelled. His voice echoed in ears,that that started murmuring before they went to their various places, then they began.

at Kelly and Praises department

" students, I know we are suppose to do this in your year two but I would like for us to do it now. Do you mind? " the lecturer ( medicine department) said standing in front of the class. Some of the students yelled no, while some yelled yes. The lecturer sighed then made his own decision. " let's do it" he said then went to the cupboard. He brought out a big bowl filled with dead rats. He shared the rat for all the students like two students to one rat.

Kelly and Praise were so disgust that they had to take in their vomit. Same house to few other students but what can they do? none of them were forced to study medicine. Mistake. Some were forced to study medicine. But they knew what they were getting their selves into before they joined. Now all what they've been taught from first semester till now, they will show their lecturer.

" you guys are gonna bring this rats back to life " the lecturer said. The rats aren't dead yet. But if they die, you will repeat this year one. But if you can treat it, that means there is no exam for you this semester. You will be taken to year two by the end of this year " the lecturer said.

" Kelly, we no fit lose the patient ( Kelly, we can't lose the patient) " Praise said raging the machines and stuff.

" yes Praise. If we lose this patient, we will be heart broken. After all, he's our patient.We must do our best okay? " Kelly said putting wires on its body.

Amanda went back to her room around 9:37. To her surprise nobody was inside the room. She picked her phone to call Praise but she didn't pick. Called Kelly but she did not still answer. She became so worried that she had to hurry back to the school. She reached the school, then ran to Praise and Kelly's department. As she looked through the window, she saw the students struggling and sweating , machine beeping. Even the lecturer is sweating.

" so I waste money enter keke ( tricycle) " Amanda said to herself.

" this is the first week of this semester and they are already putting pressure on us " Amanda said then walked away. She paid another T fair ( transport fair) back to her Campus. She ate, then lay on her bed, and when she became bored, she called he mom.

" hello mom "

" my daughter how are you "

" vrendo ( meaning : stand up

this is how the elder one reply) " her mother replied. They talked for hours.

When the time was already 2 am, the last person's patient in the medicine department survived but many died.

" okay students, if I call your name, then you can consider yourself a year two student" the lecturer said picking a cheat of paper filled with names.

" wow. I can see that the rats that survived is not than the once that died. I'm so impressed " the lecturer smiled. He started calling the names of those that pass. Out of 310 students 280 made it.

Praise and Kelly were so nervous because it was taking time. They've already called 200 names and still not reached theirs. or not.

" oh Praise and Kelly " the lecturer smiled.
