CANVAS

The world was white like a blank canvas, shame it was, for the world was beautiful.

Within this blank, white canvas, a man. Sat on a bench, he looked around to find the white nothingness as per usual, as he took a sip from a can he couldn't recognize, and he groaned as the beverage seared throughout his throat, all the way down to the stomach.

The world was empty, so he thought once more in silence, but there came a sudden, dense pressure, and he couldn't believe that a voice - eidetic in nature, masculine yet mixed with a robotic auto tune. It seemed more like white paint mixing in with another white paint, but from a different manufacturer.

"Hey, you're here again." The voice said, and he could feel the bench shift, bearing the weight of... something.

He couldn't describe it, as he waved his hand around the air to feel absolutely nothing, behind his hand, white covered the horizon. Yet only the bench remained, and now this voice, which was unrecognisable.

"Ah yes, hello. I was just... feeling the air for a moment." Said he with a smile.

"What?" The voice laughed.

"Nothing is here." He said to the voice, and the voice responded back.

"Well, truly! What else could be there, when we aren't sure what is there, yes?" It said gleefully.

He sat there in silence as he thought.

"Well in any case, why are you here again?" The voice asked as per usual, and an echoing pop and a sizzle came from his left side.

"What's that?" He asked, curious to the new sound.

"A soda can?" The voice said, puzzled at the question.

"Soda... can...?" He said, confused and afraid of the sound.

"Yes, like from yesterday. Funny, you asked the same question! Although, in a very different manner." The voice said once again in a gleeful tone.

"What did I say?" Asked he.

"Can't remember word for word... But all I know is, 'What is that sizzling? Are you cooking something?' I laughed for a minute straight before explaining what it was." Said the voice in a happy manner.

"Huh... Well, ARE you cooking something?"

The voice grunts in response, and the bench creaks, and an unknown presence takes a bit of space to the left side of the man.

"Welp, no, and uh, alright if I take a bit of space?" The voice asked, unsure.

"Well, it doesn't matter, does it?"

"I think it does, maybe for just a tiny bit?"

"I don't know." Said he with an estranged voice.

"...You alright?" The voice asked, through its mechanical sound, the man could hear the whisper of worry, but only for just a tiny bit.

"Maybe, just a tiny bit." He said, and contemplated.

Silence.

"The world is so white so... I don't really know whether I should be alright or not."

"Well maybe it's something that needn't rush over perhaps? I see the world as, beautiful I suppose, instead of the bland white. It just takes some time in getting used to." The voice said and chuckled.

"I guess you're right." The man said, staring far off into the deep white horizon.

The whiteness of the space the man delved within the blank canvas had comforted him, perhaps this world in itself was beautiful in a way, and random objects as he walked would certainly intrigue his interest for a bit, curiousity fulfilled as he walked along the white space.

Was that alright?

"Look, the world is beautiful!" Said the voice, and at the same time, the weight shifted on the bench. "Those birds over there, and the sounds of nature without people is beautiful, but taking the time to appreciate it is the important part."

As the voice did point out... somewhere, a pair of birds had appeared a few far feet in front of the man, along with a green, luscious tree and an old, dark brown trunk.

"It is quite beautiful." Said the man with a smile.

"See?! Look, you're even smiling!" Said the voice as it shifted the weight once more on the bench, and this time, with a heavier impact.

The man looked onward to the new appeared tree and birds. He stands up and walks towards the tree, a soft pressure of force beside him, probably the voice, following along.

"These birds will die, and so will the tree." He said and touched upon the bark.

"Well that's a little extreme isn't it?" The voice said.

"It is true though, these things will disappear, and time will move on."

"Well, I think that's why we should also take the time to appreciate such things now yes? The bliss in knowing, you know? Fact of the matter being, we get to live both short and long enough to witness these beautiful things for ourselves, having it be with us forever." The voice said, and rustles of dirt and stone could be heard behind the man. It stops in front of the tree, and the man could feel a soft pressure, alike wind blowing upon his skin, beside his hand which touched on the bark.

"...It is what it is." Said the man, and the voice hummed in disagreement.

"It is what it is, but lets take the time to touch on it." Said the voice.

The man silently stood there, the touch of the bark never disappearing, as peacefulness had overtaken the silent white space of the world.

The quiet was interrupted by a noise.

"Oh, have to take this, excuse me." Said the voice, as its pressure left both the bark and man. A few rustling of dirt and stone, the man could tell the voice stood a few feet away from him.

"Mhm... yes... I'll be right there... Don't worry... It doesn't matter, I'll tell them... Okay... Yeah, love you..."

A few more whispers after, the pressure comes back, as the man stares off into the white space.

"Hey? You good?" The voice had turned full on masculine, and the man could hear what his tone was.

A beautiful dark tone, pitch like a baritone, and sweet like honey. The man could hear his own heart beat, and yet perhaps going with the flow, he says,

"Yes, the white is really beautiful." The man could only say.

The voice could only sigh.

"Welp, I'll see you again some time, if you're ever still there."

"I'm always there." The man looks back to the bench, "It is what it is."

The voice laughed first, then left with goodbyes.

And thus, the man could only come and sit back at the bench, along with whatever he was holding, staring off into the white space.
