Chapter 7

(R-18 SCENE at the end of the chapter)

Jin's light blue tails stabbed the side of a tall building and carried him up to the top. Landing on top of the roof, he looked around, searching for the places he planned on looting. He also took note of several other things he spotted.

At least two more of the boss zombies were aimlessly walking around the streets; their massive size made them easily distinguishable. He didn't spot anymore, but there could easily be more of them on the other side of the city.

Another important thing was that the corpses of all the zombies Jin killed were missing. Including the boss one as well, and this was worrisome. He wasn't sure of it, but chances were the zombies could increase in power by cannibalizing on their fallen brethren.

Now that Jin thought about it, his 'story' about the zombies being a failed experiment to make more like him seemed somewhat true, as ghouls were known for being cannibals. They didn't seem to be fighting against each other, but he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.

On the one hand, if they fought against each other, their numbers will go down quickly. However, on the other, the zombies that survive will more than likely end up becoming absolute monsters.

"From now on, corpses will have to be disposed of. Either burned or..." Jin trailed off as he jumped from the building and spread his wings, moving towards one of the boss zombies.

Fighting the big guys was tedious and annoying as the other zombies tended to swarm Jin's way. He was forced to clear the 'smaller' ones as well since once the boss zombie fell, they immediately focused their attention on it, plunging their teeth into its dried flesh.

It took Jin more than an hour to deal with the two bosses and any other zombies drawn by their fight. He took them down with relative ease since he already had experience with the bigger ones, but disposing them took much longer.

Feeling slightly stronger, Jin entered a seeds store. He opened up one of five large trash bags he had brought with him and started throwing any seed packets he found in it. Once he emptied the store, Jin left and climbed onto a building, using the rooftops to reach his next destination.

One good thing about the zombies was that they didn't cause wanton destruction. Unless, of course, they were chasing after someone, but otherwise, they were relatively tame. For that reason, the library was in an almost pristine condition, though there was one toppled down bookshelf.

Jin opened up one of the trash bags and put another inside it, making them more resistant to tearing. He then started filling it up with as many books as he could, prioritizing ones about farming and construction, followed by whatever else he thought will be useful. Once the double trash bag was full, he repeated the same process with the other two.

With his loot gathered, Jin left the library but didn't return back to the estate. Instead, he made his way over to the docks. The items he was carrying wouldn't be very useful for them at that moment, so he picked the tallest building near the docks and stored them on the top floor.

There were also the two dozen corpses there he had to dispose of after learning more about the zombies.

Jin killed another boss zombie - he'd also eliminated two more on his trips to the mall and back - on his way to the estate. Other than that encounter, the trip was mostly uneventful. He did a lap around the estate when he reached it, which had become a habit to him at this point, and cleared all the zombie corpses. With that done, Jin entered the manor, where he found all the girls talking with each other.

Rika just raised her eyebrow at him. "Didn't you go to the city for loot?"

"I did," Jin nodded. "I grabbed seeds, books, and anything else essential for our survival, and I stored them on a building near the docks. There's no point in wasting time from the city and back when we will be leaving this place soon."

"Smart move," the mother and daughter said at the same time, agreeing with his decision. They had enough canned food and water in the manor already and didn't need anymore.

"I need you to come with me to check out the boats and see which one we can use," Jin said, looking at Rika.

"That's fine with me. When are we going?" Rika asked.

"Now," Jin answered quickly.

"Now? But you just got back! Aren't you tired or hungry?" Shizuka asked him in worry.

"Now," Jin repeated. "We don't have any time to waste. I had to kill five more of the big zombies while I was in the city."

"F-f-five?!" Saya stuttered out, remembering the monstrous figure they encountered while escaping.

"Yes, five of them," Jin confirmed. "And they were stronger than the first one. I dare say that the zombies are improving, evolving with each day that passes. Even the smaller ones are stronger now. We don't have that much time."

Jin let his words sink in, as the group's eyes widened in realization. The zombies were already a threat, but if they were growing stronger and evolving by the day... The zombies were even more dangerous than what the group initially believed.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Rika asked as she stood up and walked over to him.

"Be on the lookout and stay safe," Jin told the rest and turned to leave the manor. After exiting the building, he crouched down slightly so Rika could climb on his back. She did so without a word, and his hands were instantly placed on her firm buttocks.

"It seems to be nearly empty," Rika informed after inspecting it.

"Can we siphon fuel from the other boats here?" Jin quickly asked.

"Yes, but not from the smaller ones. I can show you which ones would work," Rika said. They left the boat, and she pointed out a few of them for him.

"Good, I can do that on my own," Jin said.

"Oh? We are already returning back?" Rik asked, picking on what he meant.

"Yes," Jin confirmed. "You're the best shot from the girls, and I will feel much better about their safety knowing that you are with them."

"You really care about us," Rika said softly and walked over to him, grabbing onto his shirt once she stood in front of him.

"If you continue acting like this, I might just fall for you," Rika said in a near whisper and raised herself on her heels. Jin's arms wrapped around her waist with his hands on her ass as their lips met.
